B&M Monday

Re: B&M Monday

  • My grocery list keeps getting longer and longer and I'm sure my husband will be pleased.  I probably won't be doing my work out video when I get home but I'll be walking all over wally world because I don't know where anything is.

Leslie, if it were me personally I would share the details and be very honest, but I have a great relationship with my boss and know he wouldnt judge or as Tiffany pointed out ask for follow up without me initiating.  I think it really depends on your relationship with your boss.

From the other side of it as someone who has to make decisions on time off I find myself being more understanding/flexible when I know what is going on.  Not that I am not at all if they dont confide in me, but if I know it truly is unavoidable to not give short notice and something hard to go through, I am usually a little more understanding.  I know this might not be popular or right but I am human and it is what it is.

Don't feel bad - last year when my assistant was doing IVF she told me about it and I cut her a lot more slack when it came to being moody or missing days suddenly. If she hadn't told me I probably would have been a little harsher on her TBH. :)

My boss is great and would never say anything about it if I told him I wasn't ready to share with everyone, he would be completely understanding. I guess I am just worried about oversharing, you know? With guys it is so tricky when it comes to cycles, etc. haha!

Haha, maybe leave all that cycle part out.  Just tell him you may need to be out on short notice because of fertility treatments.   If he has a wife, he can figure out the rest.  :)

  • Screw it, I think you should go with Anna's explanation, leave him wide-eyed, and be done with it Stick out tongue

Haha, my thoughts exactly.  He won't want to ask any more questions!  "Hey, boss..." "Take whatever you need to take Leslie!"

If you are comfortable sharing some, then great.  Because gossip spreads like wildfire around here, I would be keeping my mouth glued shut.

  • Leslie, I agree with PP.  Either mention that you are doing some fertility treatments, so you only have a short window of time to get some tests done, or just say you have some medical issues.  It depends on the relationship you have with your boss.

The nice thing about charting is that you really can give your boss about as much notice as anyone could.

  • Bill has already started research (he's good at it) and he says that my hiatal hernia probably is contributing to all this.  I'm pretty sure that some sort of surgery will be in my future.  I'm just hoping that I can put it off until the summer.

    Ashlee,

Sadly, some of these medicines have already caused some, uh, digestive issues.

    Ashlee,

I had a hiatal hernia that was repaired during my gastric bypass. I only had mild reflux from it, which I had always assumed was due to the foods I was eating or my weight. But the reflux was completely gone immediately after surgery, and it hasn't bothered me since. Surgery might be worth it (IMHO) if it's really affecting your life.
