    Huh huh. You said balls.

Suzi--- I kept trying to catch your eye but we didn't even get a chance to talk! Next year, I say we plan for all day. Start at brunch and take it from there...

Oh! I'm sorry, I'm a terrible mingler.  I always leave things and go "huh, I never talked to so-and-so"  I guess that means I should go to more things, eventually I'll catch everyone.   :)

My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.

Fun side of Harmony says YESSSS!!!  Selfish side says: Please let DH be in town. I don't want to have to get a 12 hour sitter.

I can make my husband go to your house until after lunch and the kids can play. Then your sitter can come at 1ish. How's that for a plan? Still, I hope K is home fr you too.

    Woohoo!

  • I made frosted spice cookies, wrapped in saran wrap (sorry, didn't have time to be creative).

  • I can post a link to the Florentines when I get home.

How about a dip tasting party next?  I love dips.  Then we could go out for drinks after that.

I hate I didn't get to talk to everyone.  I'm kinda shy and feel weird about asking "so what's your SN?"

I made double chocolate with dried cherries.  They were okay, not great.  Not worth sharing the recipe.  However, I did make an awesome punch.  That's worth sharing...

    2 bottles prosecco
    1 cup dark rum
    4 cinnamon sticks
    5 cups cranberry juice
    5 cups orange juice
cranberry ice cubes (fill ice cube tray with cranberries, cover with water and freeze)

(I did have to make some alterations as we started to run low after the 4th batch.  I used pomegranate juice, pineapple orange juice, and coconut rum and no one seemed to notice)

    the punch was very good!

  • I made the Grinch cookies...except they didn't turn out green :(  I put green food coloring in them but apparently not enough since I doubled the original recipe.

They had semi-sweet chocolate chunks, creme de menthe chocolate chunks, and peppermint extract.

The recipe is on my Pinterest Food board....Grinch cookies :)  They're a nice green in the picture, LOL.

Peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, they were in a plain treat bag sealed with scotch tape.

    Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

    Adapted from BHG

    ? cup peanut butter

    ? cup butter, softened

    ? cup granulated sugar

    ? cup packed brown sugar

    ? teaspoon baking soda

    ? teaspoon salt

    1 egg

    ? teaspoon vanilla

    1 ? cups all-purpose flour

    ? cup chocolate chips

In a large mixing bowl beat peanut butter and butter with electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour. Stir in chocolate chips.  Cover and refrigerate dough about 1 hour or until easy to handle.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Shape dough in 1-inch balls. Place balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake about 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Transfer to wire racks. Cool. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

L & I just polished those off. Very good!

Were they pink and white?  Those were good.  The kids had those last night and I got a teeny taste.  I think we had 2 ornaments and a candy cane?

I didn't make candy canes because I was not patient enough. They were either shaped like an ornament with a star or gingerbread man in the middle.

I did have some of the ones you're talking about and they were good!

  • Mine were the biscotti. They turned out a little smaller than they were supposed to. :( The recipe is from colichio's craft cookbook. Everything was delicious!! Thank you Brandi!!
  • I made the cut-out gingerbread cookies.  I didn't ice them, but I am including a basic icing recipe in case any of your kiddos want to decorate them.

    1 cup sugar1/2 cup dark malasses1/2 cup water1 tablespoon ground ginger2 teaspoons ground cinnamon1 teaspoon ground cloves1 cub unsalted butter4 cups all-purpose flour1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda1/4 teaspoon salt
In a large saucepan, stir together the sugar, molasses, water, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.  Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.  Remove the pan from the heat and add the butter, stirring occasionally until melted.  Cool for 15 minutes.  In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt.  Add the flour mixture to the ingredients in the saucepan.  Mix with a wooden spoon until completely blended.  Spoon the dough into a resealable freezer bag, flattening the dough to even thickness, and seal.  Refrigerate the dough overnight.  (or freeze for 4 hours)
Preheat oven to 350F.  Cut the dough into 4 portions.  Roll out the 1st portion, and return the other 3 portions to the refrigerator.  Cut the cookies, and transfer to ungreased baking sheets.  (I actually like to take the cut cookies, and "dip" both sides into granulated sugar before putting onto cookie sheet)  Bake the cookies 10-12 minutes until firm.
Icing: 3 large egg whites4 cups sifted powdered sugar1 teaspoon lemon juice

Whisk the egg whites until frothy.  Whisk in the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.  Store in a closed container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.

    Those were yummy!

The biscotti were the ones I didn't feel too guilty having with my coffee this morning. :)

  • I have the weirdest husband ever, I caught him rummaging through the bag of cookies with a very unhappy look on his face.  I asked what he was looking for he said "something plain, I don't know what kind of cookies any of these are!"  I told him "take a bite, then you'll know."  Apparently he won't eat unidentified cookies.  HmmConfused

Anyone have some larger pants I can borrow?  None of mine are gonna fit in about a week.

  • I hate you all.  :-)

Seriously, I wish I'd been able to go.  Not that I needed that many cookies, but I love trying new things.
