Oh how weird. Obviously 12/16 is not a lucky date. We've been trying to look at our bills and where we can make concessions but all I keep coming back to is that it's going to cost 2x as much in this house than we currently spend in the condo we're subletting.
My boss literally came in my office crying and begged me not to leave as well. I was like why so we can both be unemployed?

Will he qualify for any unemployment benefits (I am not sure how it works in the US compared to Canada)? Is there any way to estimate how much he might get until he can get a new job, to see if that would help cover the expenses?
When I got laid off, we actually did a pretty large purge of our stuff to try and get some extra money - dvds, videogames, stuff like that on amazon - gave us some extra money to work with for smaller expenses. Can you do anything like that?

Tonight I'm going with friends to a parade at the beach. All the boat owners decorate their boats with lights and stuff and they go through the harbor. It's really pretty, and really fun to sit on the beach and watch.

And Sherr, I'm so sorry about your H, I can relate, it really sucks right before the holidays, I just focus on the positive: you have each other. He has you to talk to and to encourage him looking for other things.
