S/O worst place you've been to

Re: S/O worst place you've been to

  • As much as I loved Moscow, I hated it as well.  The smog was killer.  I think I had a headache for two weeks AFTER we left.

Then there was Finland.  We went in the middle of winter so maybe that is why everything was dreary and everyone was so depressed.

  • Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Had to go there for a family reunion for DH's side. It was miserable...nothing but taxidermy and ammo shops, depressing motels, and trailer parks. I'm from the south so I've spent my fair share of time in some backwards places, but I found nothing of redeeming value in this pit of despair.

  • meridian, ms.

there is some serious spiritual unrest in that place. i had to be there for work for a few weeks and i swear the hair on the back of my neck was at attention the entire time. i couldn't wait to leave. i have never been so uncomfortable in my life. then i learned there was a big battle in meridian during the civil war.

  • Nassau- it was our first stop on our honeymoon cruise. I felt like I was in a third world country, namely after it rained for a bit and the streets were totally flooded. While I enjoyed some parts of it, I have no desire to go back there.

  • For me it was Jamaica - I did not feel particularly safe outside of the resort, but inside the resort wasn't great either.  There was what appeared to be a bloody handprint (probably self tanner, but still) on the wall in my shower and it did not go away until the day we were leaving.  It took us 2 days to get a replacement light bulb.  Forget washcloths.  And I had a horrible attack of sand fleas without 15 minutes of going on the beach.  And then there was the ganja guy in the bushes just off property by the pool who whispered trying to sell pot or whatever anytime you came close.

The poorest I've seen was in the Dominican Republic, but the people were so friendly I don't count it as bad -- just depressing.

  • I'm not a big fan of Florida places in general, but Jacksonville was just awful. It was Hot in Therre, nothing to eat and I swear I saw tumbleweeds blowing through the downtown area on a Friday night. Most of my international travel has gone okay so far (~knocks on wood~).
