Re: AW Thursday

  • I have nothing to AW.  I got a massage yesterday and picked up melatonin and still couldnt sleep last night.  This is now night 4 of little to no sleep, I am a zombie.
  • I got some beautiful flowers from Bill yesterday since he's out of town.

I had a spinach salad for an afternoon salad.  It was about three cups worth and it was delicious.

    BBL,

Is there something in your detox that you're doing that may be keeping you from getting a good night's sleep?  Are you worried about something?

  • BL - Getting a massage sounds pretty awesome!  It really sucks though that you still can't sleep. :(  I hope you get relief soon.

Well my big AW was on FB last week as most you saw... We're going to Costa Rica for our 1st Anniversary!  I'm SO excited!!!!!   I also found out yesterday I don't have to pay one of my doctor bills from my surgery.  My insurance reprocessed it as in-network and poof we owe nothing.  Such a blessing.

Aren't there evacuation plans for this?

    Flowers are so sweet!

Costa Rica and no Hospital bills! What a great week!

I don't have anything. We are just fixing up the house after the foundation repair. Ok DH has been fixing up the house. I just sit there...

  • I am working from home today, which is wonderful since it's so dang cold outside.  It's even better because I have Crispin in my lap - I missed that guy!

My new duvet came in the mail while I was out of town, and I put it on last night and really like it.  It's totally different than the previous decor of the room, so it's going to take me a while to get it all fixed up how I like, but it should be pretty once I get it all done!

J is going to go work out of town for about a month while he waits on the application process for his "real" jobs.  He leaves in a week, and might be out of town for my birthday.  I haz a sad.

  • If your sleep doesn't get better BL, will you go to a doctor to get a prescription?  What about Tylenol PM or the like?  I know every body is different but exercising always makes me sleep better and I wish you had the same result.

    How sweet of Bill!

Congrats on the trip and the no bills Amanda.

Maybe if J is going somewhere fun, you could fly out to see him for your birthday, Angie?

  • I just want to say - you ladies amaze me.  Thank you so much for the flowers, the food and the card that I received.  I am truly in awe of what an awesome community we have here and I am so thankful to have you all on my team.
  • In the baby post yesterday I shared that I think it would be really neat to have a pre-TTC trip and now it's not just a thought I have.  I really want to do it now!

I worked out for 30 minutes last night and I plan on doing it tonight as well as Friday night.  I was also told I lost 1.1 pounds but I don't believe that.  I've been waking up throughout the night the last several nights and I finally slept through the night for the most part.

I came across http://www.photobarn.co/ on groupon yesterday and think they are super neat.  We won't be buying any of them but will definitely keep it in mind for the future.

If you look there is a pinterest DIY version of this.

  • Jaymi - That was our Florida trip, even though I didn't quite mention that to J (it's more on "my" list, not "our" list of pre-TTC stuff).  You should definitely go somewhere!  And sadly, J isn't going anywhere cool - he's going to be in the Houston area, so I can still go and visit - but he'll be staying in a travel trailer with his dad, so it'll be a little cozy when I do.

  • BL - I can't believe the melatonin didn't work for you! :( I have problems falling asleep, but melatonin's helped immensely. It takes about two hours to really kick in for me, so I take it around 7 or 8 pm. When H goes to bed, I open a book and start reading. The more boring the subject matter, the better -- british literature and history books are my go-to reading material. Right now I'm reading something about submarines. Zzzz.

  • Julie- I have no caffeine in the detox and other than shoving an ungodly amount fo nutrients in my body that is the only thing I can think of. I am in a constant state of worry thats why I was on anti anxiety meds to begin with. I dont think trying to come off of them is going to work.

Amanda - Yay for costa rica and no bills

    Deepthi- LOL

Jaymi- I was previously on anti anxiety meds to help with the sleep, but I thought since I was removing all chemicals from my body during the detox that I would try and see how I do with no drugs either.  I want to say I have given this a fair shot before I give back in and take the meds.

Marie- I am going to try the melatonin for at least a couple more nights and see if it gets better.  I may try taking it a little earlier, I didnt take it until 8ish and went to bed around 9:30-10ish.

  • I don't really have anything to AW today. I am at the doctors office right now and I'm just hoping that they won't run too far behind today. They ALWAYS run behind, but I come anyways because I really like my doctor. :-/

I was doing so good at not eating fast food and then we had some for dinner last night. I wish we hadn't because it wasn't even that good!

  • I also love hot tea at night to sleep--I drank my Aveda peppermint tea last night and between that and half a Benadryl, I could not keep my eyes open last night while Ben and I looked at vacation stuff.

We ruled out a cruise for Mel's gift because Ben doesn't want 3 of us to a room.  So that's out.  We may just give her money at this point.  He said we can most likely take 2 vacations this year so that is my AW!  Yay for trips!

  • YAY for trips... I agree!  Stephie, do you have any ideas where you want to go?

Bri - We all love you! :o)

Hate when this happens. If it's going to make you feel bad after it should be at least worth it. Hope the doctor can help today.

Stephanie - Have you thought about white water rafting? I don't know if that would be something she would even want, but an experience vacation is always nice. Next India trip we take you guys can come along ....lol

  • Yay for Costa Rica Amanda!!

When we went on our minimoon to San Antonio right after the wedding, our hotel was still doing construction on their lobby.  When I got back home I filled out the online survey and mentioned that the construction was a bit annoying and loud.  They sent us a gift certificate for a free stay and we just booked it for March.  Looks like we'll be enjoying green beer and a green Riverwalk for St. Patty's day.

    Ditto.

Amanda, I think we may go to San Francisco for July 4--we are going to talk about it with Ben's BFF this weekend who will go too.  7-8 days and a side trip to Napa.  They have been before but it's their favorite place and I haven't been.  Every year I say no--I hope I like it.  I still want to do a family vacation too, just maybe not over the summer.

Ha, Deepthi--no way!  I saw the videos on our trip to the Grand Canyon.  I couldn't do it.  My dad did it years ago and said it was extremely scary.  I am not an adventurous person by any means!

    Lauren--that's really cool!

  • Stephanie - I would love to go to San Fran and Napa, I hope that trip works out for you!

I remember you saying that it didn't have any caffeine, but I wasn't sure if there wasn't something in the detox, you know, something you didn't normally eat, that might be causing this.  And, yeah, I don't think coming off anti-anxiety would be a good idea at this point.  I know you're very anti-chemicals, but Tylenol Simply Sleep works most of the time for me.  I wake up without much of a "hangover".  Definitely give the melatonin a couple more days.  It didn't work the first two nights, but it did after that.

I stupidly set my alarm for an hour later than normal.  I was very nearly late and one of my APs was opening my door just as I got there and was on his walkie-talkie to the front office, asking if I was coming in today.  Doh.

  • BL - Did you try weaning yourself off of the anti-anxiety meds or did you stop taking them cold turkey?  I have no idea if that could be a cause but maybe that has something to do with it.

Yay for everyone planning to take trips this year!

My AW - I talked Chris into coming home in February to go to my specialist appt. with me and the doctor insisted that he get his "goods" tested too.  I thought it would be a struggle to get him to come home because he is a workaholic, but he said yes without any delay! (well maybe an "are you serious?" about the "goods" testing, but no delay after that LOL).

I totally agee!! I want to go to San Fran so bad!

    Lauren - that's awesome!

  • So I talked to DH at lunch about the trip and while he wasn't nearly as excited as I thought he would be about the whole thing, he has agreed to it ("It is probably the last trip you will enjoy") and will talk with his boss to see about taking the week off before our holiday break in December so that we have 2 weeks.  Now we just have to figure out where we want to go.
  • So since we're thinking of going to San Fran--3 guesses what I've been doing all day!  :)

We are thinking west coast as well!  But that was at lunch and we have so many places we want travel to so it will probably change a million times before we finalize it.

Hmmmm, well, CA will be fairly nice that time of year.  There's also some cold weather places like DC (I've never been), and I love Chicago but I'm not sure if there's two weeks worth of vacation there.  You could always do FL (like Miami/Ft. Lauderdale) or even out of the country.

Oooh, I told Ben not too long ago that one year I want to open presents Christmas morning and then take off somewhere and not come back until New Year's Day.  I would probably pick somewhere like Colorado or Vermont where there was snow, or Las Vegas would be fun too and a crazy place to spend NYE.  Or a cruise to the Bahamas.  Or Hawaii.  Gah, the choices are endless!

@Julie, do you have any idea what Europe (specifically Italy/France/Spain) is like at that time of year?

I was there in November for my study abroad. France and up was wet & cold. Southern Spain & Italy were beautiful, you just have to bundle up.

BL- have you tried just Benadryl? That's what I use when I can't sleep during the day. And that's what's in Tylenol sleep, it's just Tylenol and Benadryl. Be careful with the melatonin, if you take it for too long your body decreases the amount that it makes on it's own.

Another random tidbit- Did you guys know that Excedrin migraine has the exact same ingredients as Pamprin extra strength? I started taking excedrin for my cramps and such and it worked great, and it's way cheaper.

  • While I did read that you got a new job, Angela, it didn't really sink in so I missed it yesterday.  Congrats!  See...everything worked out ;)
