Re: GTG 2.0...2012 style :)
Sounds like fun but I won't be able to make it. I'll still be on maternity leave (I'll be broke) and I'm assuming the LO will still be stuck to my boobs at that point. :-)
Whatever happen to the chat about an April or May GTG?

Squee! I call room mate!
DH said I can go all alone, so Cincy girls, let's car pool!
Mike and I will be in Chicago for his birthday weekend, April 20-22. Do we want to plan the kids GTG then?
YES! Denver would be awesome. Not to be the board b*tch, but I really do think we need to put the location to a vote, so everybody gets a say. :-) Since not everybody chats/was chatting, not everybody got input.

There has been talk of a big gtg for a couple of years now with a board vote for dates and locations. Unfortunately, that hasn't panned out. So far the largest turn out for a gtg (that I know of) was Indy. The date and location were both randomly picked by a few girls and it went from there. It doesn't seem that the voting gets anything done. There is always going to be people who can't go on certain dates or to certain places. That's just the reality of trying to plan something with such a large group of people from many different areas of the country.
I get ya. totally. But, there has also been talk about a GTG in Chicago this Spring. And, that was posted on the board about two months ago. I'm just trying to keep it fair. :-)
It's not a biggy to me since I won't be able to make it no matter where the location is.

The Chicago GTG talk was talked about as a kiddo GTG. I don't see how both still can't go on. Some of us still don't have kids and would like to meet up. I know lyn and I have texted/been friends for years and this is neutral ground for us.
If people are going to start having their feelings hurt because the location wasn't voted on, then I think GTG planning would only start becoming more secretive and exclusive- that would just become a nautral occurrence to avoid any hurt feelings.
This is neutral ground for lots of people and plenty of notice. If you can attend, great, of not I'm sorry any feelings are hurt.
I don't think anybody's feelings are hurt. It's just not a very central location considering we have a lot of girls out West. Seems like people are going to make other GTGs work anyways,so it's all cool.
I'm just bringing up some valid points. Like I said, it's no sweat off my back because I can't make it no matter what because that date doesn't work for me.
ETA: I would totally be at this GTG if the date worked for me. I actually think y'all picked a good date because it does give people plenty of time to plan, my darn baby had to get in the way. ;-)

Woot! Roomies again??
We're trying to get in around the same time frame so that we're not all wandering aimlessly in the airport
Jaay, you could always drive too. I've made the drive from Roanoke to Nashville a few times, it is an easy drive and not tooooo long. Just in case airplane tickets are too expensive.
Yes! Absolutely!
So far Priceline is saying Delta will be the cheapest at a little over $300. They have a flight that lands at 1:08 pm so we'd be greeted by Lyns for sure, and anyone else arriving before 1.
I'll definitely check into prices for Lansing departures too but it looks like they connect in Detroit anyway and are more $$-- so you can always take a flight that connects with me in the D, or drive down to my house and park there and we can go to the airport together.
You can definitely still have a good time.
I'm sure Lansing flights are ridic so I'll plan to head down your way and go together.
Lyns, I'll room with you as long as you don't hog the bed like last time.
Yeah, 18 hours for me and I didn't look at plane tickets, but I'm sure it's about the same.
I know not everyone is going to be able to make it (I'm sure I'm not always going to be able to) but I'm so glad that people take initiative to plan these things so that they actually happen. I'm not a planner at all, so I appreciate the ones that put these together b/c I know it takes time and effort.
I also like that this has spurred some other groups to gtg. Nesties meeting nesties is good stuff. Yeehaw!
Also, my tiny airport sucks when it comes to prices. I'm so jealous of you guys that live near big airports.
If I am able to go, maybe we could fly together, Jen??
Definitely! I would love a flying buddy
