So, I called to get an appointment for a physical  at my new Dr. over there, hoping I could get in next month. She's booked until the end of April dangit!
    That is crazy!

I don't find this surprising at all.  My doctor is usually booked more than 2-3 months in advance, sometimes up to six months.  It's crazy.

How do babies develop allergies?  I'm sorry you're dealing with this, Mira.  It does sound overwhelming.  I just wonder why it seems like severe allergies are a much bigger problem now than they were in the past.

I actually read a very interesting article over the weekend that said back in the hunter/gather days, humans would eat, on average, 200 different foods in a year.  And now due to globalization and food being available year round, humans only eat around 20 different foods!

Very interesting.  Yet one more reason Monsanto is the devil.

I hate hate hate to admit this, but holy crap I'm a wreck.

First of all, don't feel bad admitting that.  You've been dealing with a lot lately, plus pregnancy hormones.  I flipped out on L over the weekend because he started pulling some books and papers of mine out of a closet from last semester.

Secondly, you should pm me who the plumber is that you talked to and I might be able to tell you if he's any good.  I'm very familiar with most of the plumbers in MKG and a few in GR.  I used to work in a related business Stick out tongue

  • Well I'll keep the dr. time line in mind for the future. Thanks DP.

Has anyone done or know of anyone whose done the PedalGR bike tours? The ice cream tour sounds like something nice to do on a spring/summer evening.

I have in the past, they are lots of fun!

  • Great. Thanks Wendy. I'll add this to the things to do list.

Ha. Do you still have any connections? I desperately need a new kitchen faucet. :P The plumber is my dad's cousin. My mom and dad both like him, but I cannot stand talking to him. He did some work on one of our rentals a week or two or three ago, and now we're having the same issue again. Ugh. At least he guarantees his work. Hopefully this won't cost us too much.
  • I can give you a suggestion of who to talk to at my old workplace.  The pricing she could give you would probably be pretty comparable to what you'd get at a box store like HD or Lowe's.  If you're looking for something super special, she'd probably be worth your time, but if you want something relatively straight forward and standard, it's probably just as easy to hit a box store.

If you have something in mind that you want (number of sink holes, finish, style, etc.), I can even make a few suggestions.  All of the information that I used to use is still there, although it is six months out of date.

  • My mom and I convinced my younger sister to cut her hair short.  I'm so excited.  Right now her hair is shoulder length and is dry, broken, and nappy- for lack of a better word (she was adopted from Africa 13 years ago Smile).  I think I'm going to try to convince her to do a Rihanna type style with a little mohawk.  Teehee.  I told her that I would even pay for the cut.  My mom said she would take care of the cost to get it relaxed.  I hope she goes for it.  My mom said she doesn't care what cut she gets as long as she does it!
