Anyone tried any good wines lately?

I tried a couple types of the Cupcake brand recently.  I enjoyed them.

(I am no wine expert, though.  I'll drink pretty much anything.  Ha!)

I am stuck in my usual Barefoot wines. I tend not to stray from the norm. Once you buy the $3 million house I will splurge on a good bottle and bring it to the house warming party.:)

This is all kinds of awesome. I think I've tried Layer Cake, but not Cupcake.

Has anyone been to The Copper Vine out in Grandville?  I've been meaning to stop in there.

Hang in there DP and enjoy Gatlinburg.  There's some lovely hiking in the Great Smokies nearby which I'd recommend. :-)

Yeah, I doubt we'll hike, even though I know it's great there.  Lazies + scary bears = lots of boozing in the condo.

I'm thinking of making up a package to surprise L with--a "minibar" back full of candy, drinks, etc.

Well your plan sounds pretty awesome. :-)  And I love the idea of a minibar surprise.

  • Did I mention that B is currently experiencing his annual break-down where he wants to change everything about his life (except me, he assures me).  Last year at this time he declared that we ought to get a dog, have a baby, and travel to Europe.

This year, he declares that he wants to move out of state, work for the government, no baby ever, and travel back to Hawaii.

I need to get him out of GR to clear his head, stat.  It's really, really unfortunate that the most stressful time of year for him at work falls in the SADest month of February.  It's too much.

Ha!  If I buy the $3 million house, I won't have any money left for booze, so I'd gladly have a wine/beer house warming party to stock up.

You should try Columbia Crest Two Vines wine.  Great wine, and usually comparible in price to Barefoot.

Wait, why didn't you pounce on this? ;-)

That stinks that he's so stressed - hope you find an excuse to get away and relax soon!

    Sad

I feel for him (and you.)  February is the roughest month for me every year.  I think my grandpa's death/funeral (seeing my family for a long weekend), the "oopsie" baby, the new house and the mild weather has kept me from sinking really, really deep into depression.

Normally this time of year I feel just like B.

And I tell myself every year that I'm going to plan a trip for February "next year" so I don't get stuck in this rut again.  But I never seem to be able to plan that trip.

My uncle texted me late last night when he got home from MI to TX to brag that it was 73 degrees at 11 pm.  I said "I'll see you next February in TX!"  I think maybe I should actually do it.

  • Wop - I really enjoy Kung Fu Girl Riesling. It is a dry Riesling and I usually find it on sale at Meijer for $11.

Opera Prima is a fun, pink Moscato. Usually on sale for about $6 or $7.

Ravenswood Zinfandel ($9ish) and Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel ($14ish) are both good.

And there is nothing wrong with a few bottles of Aldi wine! Winking Owl Chardonnay for less than $3. If you don't like it, you can always stash the leftover in the freezer for cooking.

I might be missing wine, a little.

    Nope!  Sure haven't.  Wink

  • Kasa - I am sorry about B's struggle this time of year. It must be hard for both of you. I hope you can get him whatever he needs to work through this.

Because you all told me to concentrate on the Europe trip instead!  Stick out tongue

Weekend away plans are in motion.

That, and the occasional beer once in a while.

I know this is absolutely ridiculous, but I'm very glad I had that Leinie on Tuesday, Jan 17th after class.  Stick out tongue

Last year I vowed that we would go to Florida in February/March this year.  But then my grandma broke her back, which makes it not a good time to visit her.  Plus, I couldn't convince B to do a Florida trip and a Europe trip this year.

Good news, though, Molly -- February ends tonight!

  • There was someone on the D&R board who was asking if anyone had slipcovered their baby's swing, bouncy, and activity center because the bright colors were ugly Hmm I thought that was very strange, and unsafe (not that I'm the safety police by any means).  Anyone else?

  • I find it funny that someone with the name cash has the same intial a credit card (cc) ...cue the poor joke music.

Greetings everyone.   So today was the deadline for charter school applications. I added one more today; I need to remember to tell the husband so if we  get the call that we got accepted there, he isn't like Whatt??? we didn't apply there.

Our first choice has their lotto this Friday...ughh..I just want to know if we are picked and if not, where on the waiting list are we.  I will feel good with a waiting list of 30 or below.

  • Kasa, I'm sorry.  B goes big, doesn't he?  I just rearrange furniture every February. ;)  I remember last years dog window, and how torn you were about going for it.

Here's hoping March brings calm and contentment for us all.

  • Thanks for the support, ladies!

Wop, yeah, I think that's strange.

GVSU, exciting news!  Hope everything works out with the school you want.

WOP, fun experience.  You know I have a fascination w/ your industry.  Do you mind sharing what you need to travel for?

Roll out meetings for the upcoming spring garden season.  We are a wholesale flower supplier/distribution center to a major grocery retailer in the midwest (can you guess which one Stick out tongue).  We are changing the way we do business with a portion of the stores, so we are attending the meetings to pretty much answer questions and provide support to the retailer buyers/coordinators.

Ohhhh... so were you flying on their corporate jet?

Hahahahaha!  Nooooo, it was the owner of our company's jet.  They're too cheap.

    A-flippin' men.
