Santorum vows to ban porn
Re: Santorum vows to ban porn
Above Us Only Sky
It doesn't matter what his intentions are. All that matters is what he does and its impact on women. He may not consider himself a misogynist, but his actions indicate otherwise.
Maybe he'll hear it as "free your willy, Rick." He really needs to, he is wayyyy too uptight about sex.

Calvinists believe in free will.
RS is either gay or a eunuch. There is no other explanation for his hang ups.
Plus history has taught us that every politician that is anti gay gets caught being gay somewhere. Every. Single. One.
oops which ones believe in predestiny
Above Us Only Sky
I don't understand how that works given the whole predestination thing with Calvinists. Nor do I have time to do the googles and learn it.
Free will is such a confusing subject. I am a Calvinist and even I have a hard time explaining what I believe.
Here is a good explanation.
2) Compatibilistic free will
This refers to the idea that man?s choices are ultimately within the bounds of God?s sovereign control, yet they are free in the sense that God does not coerce man to choose against his will, but rather sovereignly determines what man wills in the first place. In other words, if some person chooses A instead of B, it was ultimately God?s decision that he would make that choice, and yet the choice was still free because the person made it willingly, not being coerced against his will. God made Him willing to make that choice.
So of course that yields the position that a Calvinist can decide to commit atrocities and claim that it was with God's knowledge, and apparent approval, in doing so.
This is a debate for another day (and another thread) that I would love to have with you sometime.
My short answer is that God makes us willing to choose right and wrong - to choose Him or not. He is in charge of our intentions and our hearts. I'm not convinced that He approves of what we do with those intentions. So, for me, when we're talking choices in this sense, we're not talking about every little act. We're talking about the overall shape of a human's life.
Who wants to place bets on how long it is before his affair scandal surfaces?
I'm willing to bet it won't be with a woman.
Sex is not for fun, eddy. Sex is for procreation only. HTH.
Pretty much.
I mean, I get that these laws are already on the books. I just can't imagine caring so much as to make strict enforcement of them part of your campaign platform.
Yes and no. Some porn is not protected. The rule is that they know unlawful obsenity when they see it.
Thankfully for me, the Senate doesn't apply the same standard.
Boom.
I feel so famous!!
Sorry Bunnybean! Calling you out for your plagiarizing paraphrasing! Bill Maher said Santorum thinks about gay porn more than dildo salesmen. Ha!
ETA: Now that I think about it, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Hmm. Maybe I have it wrong somewhere. Dammit.
ETA part deux: Oh wait yes it does! Ha!
This got my attention on his website:
The average age of first exposure to hard-core, Internet pornography is now 11.
It's completely false, the result of a game of factoid telephone pass-it-on and watch it warp (http://www.forbes.com/2005/11/22/internet-pornography-children-cz_sl_1123internet.html). He's a scare mongoring douche IMO, and I wouldn't be shocked if he does consider all porn "hard-core".
