Re: Lurker/Newb with a PCE demographics question

  • In the last couple of months I've really started getting grey hair, and I've stopped getting carded. I'm only 34 people!  ::cries::
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • I'm one of the beebees, too. In fact, I might be the youngest non-newb. Embarrassed
  • 31.

This thread has been helpful to me, since I'm newish.  I didn't know how old most of you are.

  • I'm a wee wittle one at 25. I was beebee bride (21) and a younger mother (23). I know I get judged somewhat for that but it is what it is.

  • Bless you for grouping 30 with the 20somethings.

Like bunnybean, I am a child when it comes to my birthday. But I love celebrating all birthdays, not just my own, and it's a bummer when people don't feel the same way about birthdays. It's the best excuse for a Carvel cake.

YES. Fudgie the Whale for the win. I feel like we've been down this road before.

    I am serious...and don't call me Shirley.

I'm 31, and I started getting gray at 24. I was seriously considering going the color route, and then I got pg. Now, even COMBING my hair is a victory.

  • 35 here.

25 and 35 have been my toughest birthdays.  Guess I don't like the halfway mark?

What's funny is that the group average has aged. I think a few years ago the majority were mid 20s.

I was in my mid twenties a few years ago and thank you for the painful reminder that I no longer am.

    Yousa mean one, ms. grinch

I, for one, was excited to move into my 30s :)

I just remember doing a poll like this when we first started 4+ years ago.  Of course, all of us regulars have aged, but the surprise is that we haven't had a lot of people to replace the mid 20 crowd which I used to occupy.

As those of us who were alive and cognizant before the invention of the internet age, places like this will become like CBS on TV. Our threads will be like JAG. We can all then scream at the whippersnappers who come in to get off our virtual lawns.

I was sooooo excited to be turning 30 this month for a long long time until, well...this month. Now I'm kind of freaking out. There are things I said I refused to do until I'm in my 30s (namely, have children), and now that my 30s will be here shortly, OMGWTFBBQ.

See, I'm looking forward to my 30s for that reason. I'm married, I'm looking forward to having kids and settling solidly into a normal, boring, middle class life, lol. But I was kind of a hot mess for part of my 20s. So I'm much better off now than I was a decade ago.

I've always had the impression that this board was more in the early-to-mid 30s on average. I'm not sure if that's true for most of the nest, but I always feel like one of the younger, more guillable, possibly less experienced and dumber people here. Stick out tongue

Umm, based on lurking, yeah no. You are certainly one of the regs who knows what is going on (as an almost 30 lurker/newbie, I hope one day to know whatthehell is going on).

  • I feel way too old to be here, at 43.

I think 35 was a particularly difficult birthday for me. But I was single and had been forever, and I was dating a chef who worked nights and drank and smoked too much, who I knew was fun but not a forever guy.

I think, in life circumstances like that, 35 felt like I'd be killed in a terrorist attack rather than be married, and I'd certainly never, ever have kids.

Hoo, boy. It's been a wild ride since then!

    Love!

I was thinking the other day about coming home after school and watching TV... and spending all afternoon on one channel, because the other two channels we got didn't have kid-centered programming, it was soaps!

    sigh.

Hmmm. I need a Snowflake Option. I'm only in one age bracket for another 10 days.

Ha! I'm an April fool, too.

I have NEVER been someone who wonders how old I am because I am a child about my birthday usually, but just the other day, another teacher asked me who old I was. I said, "Uh.......28." It took forever. I think it's because I'm trying to embrace 30 as it nears, though my birthday in 11 days will only be 29. Whew.
This. I have to do the math on how long it's been since 1984 every time I'm asked.
