    You don't see the difference?

A SS agent smokes dope, then goes on shift and is too buzzed to do his job.

A SS agent gets laid, feels great and does his job better.

    Are you stupid or something?

Yes, yes, by all means, let's have the men on duty and tasked with providing security to americans overseas paying more attention to getting their knobs polished and stealing services from local "businesses" than doing their damned jobs.

Don't look down on a little afternoon delight.  It does a body good.

My point was (obviously lost) that sex does not adversely affect job performance the way drugs do.

Frankly, I coundn't care less about this whole 'scandal'.

If this were true, then it wouldn't be part of pretty much every security training H has gone through.

Prostitutes, whether legal or not, are absolutely a security risk.  It's not like a secret service agent would be ignorant of that, either.

  • National Security issues - a prostitute could be part of a larger scheme to gather intelligence, a connection to a drug cartel, an info gathering for a plot against the President.

I don't care if the Secret Service want to avail themselves of legal prostitution --- when they are on vacation in Columbia --- but when the tax payers are sending them to Columbia as part of their jobs to protect the President, they represent the USA and should be on their best behavior and not embarrasing the president or compromising his security. This was just plain dumb.

I think we need a good look at how the Secret Service operates and tighten things up.  (Non invited guests at a State dinner and now this??)

  • I have always heard the explanation that they are setting themselves up for blackmail.  Let's say they are married and after the dirty deeds they are approached and threatened by "my, my, wouldn't it be a shame if your family saw these pictures?" and then asked for the president's schedule or other secrets.  The agent might be more prone to let go of the info so his domestic life won't be ruined.
  • People, for ***'s sake. Colombia is the country, Columbia is the university.

Glad I'm not the only one stuck on this. Except my country self was thinking, "Columbia, SC has some sketchy characters, but I'm pretty certain prostitution is still illegal. That's not what they mean by "gamecocks."

Uh, but yeah. Secret Service agents probably shouldn't be getting their rocks off with foreign hookers, on or off the clock, for all the reasons stated before.

Did y'all see that pig fly past my window?  Cuz I totally agree with Sis (and the other posters who mentioned this).  You DO NOT bring anyone to the hotel where the president will be staying in a few days!!!  Especially in Colombia, where there's rebels and drug cartels.  Floor plans, layouts, schedules lying around.  I can hear it now "hey baby!  I'll take you in the secret enterence set up for the prez!  Did you know he'll be staying in the room next to mine?  Sweeeet!!!!"

A ss agent gets laid, then blackmailed by the prostitute - oops, security risk.  Even if legal in Colombia, I think we can assume a) they knew they would get in trouble for it, if caught and b) some, maybe most, of them are married and would like to stay married.

I'm not sure that it matters whether or not prostitution is legal in Colombia. I would think secret service agents take a vow to uphold US laws?

oh my gosh thank you. I was having trouble getting through the thread because of that.

That aside - ditto HAB, Nitaw and Y4M.  It doesn't matter if prostitution is legal in Colombia or not, really.  This was wrong for a whole variety of reasons and frankly when you are part of the Secret Service, you are held to a bit of a higher standard in my opinion because you do have access to very sensitive information.

You watch either too much or too little South Park.

You're late to that party.  Somebody else already pointed out our spelling errors.  Many apologies for the offense.
