They announced this name weeks ago. I don't think its so terrible. Maybe the boy/girl name thing is NMS, but on the celebrity naming scale, hell on the Bump scale, its not so bad.

Also I don't think 9 lbs is that big for a baby.

    9 lbs, 13 oz.  so 3oz short of a 10lber.  from someone who had a 8lb14ozer, i say big.

Are you calling 10 pound babies fat?!?!    ::runs and cries::

    signed,

    a 10 lb, 8 oz baby

  • Eh. I'm 7 mo pregnant and no matter what the size of the baby, the labor stories that people seem compelled to tell me are all heinous. So I'm not fazed by that.

Also, I grew up listening to my mom's stories about labor, in which she had my brother (10 lb) without pain meds and talks about the experience glowingly. So this ish doesn't scare me much.

  • That's a large baby for someone so petite.

I heard they are going to call her Maxi, which I think it kind of cute.

Laurier, my vote is for Lucas James!

Missus, I was 9 lbs. 6 oz. at birth and my mom still brings up the hellish labor she had with me. Then again, she was 18 when she had me so I guess it really could have been that much of a nightmare for her.

Nah, her age probably didn't have much to do with it. I had a 9lb 5 ouncer after a failed epidural and three hours of pushing. Even then, it took forceps to get her out. Not fun times.

BTW, I gained only 20 lbs and was all baby.

    LOL

As long as she doesn't name her next one Kotex, she'll be alright

  • 9lb13oz is plenty big. My 2nd was 6oz more than that and need I remind you that the aftermath has been pretty horrific? Child in question is now 22 months and wears a size 5T hat. Like an orange on a toothpick, people.

  • wow that's a big girl!

hey, if sexism is still around when that girl is job hunting, the masculine name should help. I'm not that put off by it. :)

Well the size of that baby really explains things.

    Right?

I like the name.  My BFF's middle name is Maxwell (its a family name) so it doesnt seem that off to me.  Plus, I had heard a rumor that they were going to name the baby Jerrica (Jessica +Eric) so anything but that sounds blessedly normal.

Wow. My cousin's name is Jerrica. I always thought it was a pretty name. Unique, but not totally out there. I will have to tell her that her name is considered weird.

Jerrica sounds way too much like Jheri curl to me.

As someone who carried a 10lb 1oz baby, I beg to differ, lol.

    Sadie is not impressed.

And I carried a 9lb, 14oz baby and he was big and it started to hurt hauling him around!  My daughter was 8lbs, 4 oz and while she was heavy too...he was just painful at times and I could tell a huge difference between the weight of the two even without ultrasound guesses.

If the kid wasn't a celebrity baby, she'd be having so many issues with things like registering for college classes for the rest of her life.

Below 5% for height and weight, above 95% for head.  Her uncles call her Baby Stewie.  I tried to pass Marisa's bike helmet down to her so Marisa could have a new one, and IT DOESN'T FIT.  It still fits the five-year old.

  • Late to the party, but seriously, people, nobody makes a Jem reference to Jerrica? Lame.
    I am serious...and don't call me Shirley.
