Sean Harris (pictured, left), the senior pastor at Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, is a strong supporter of North Carolina's proposed antigay Amendment One. In Sunday's sermon, Harris screams like a maniac about cracking limp wrists and punching young children who exhibit gender-variant behavior. Wow! That guy is crazy! I have never once in 4 years have heard the issue of homosexuality brought up in any of our services. I would walk out if our pastor ever started in like that and never go back. I went in 3 years ago and talked to our pastor about their "position paper" on marriage posted to their website to let him know that it was harsh and outdated. They changed it not long after we talked. It's still not what I'd like to see still but we are inching there. But for me I had to go and express my dissent from their views of homosexuality to our pastor because it felt hypocritical not to. I am praying for the day that we can all align to be accepting. We are a progressive church and I don't think it's an impossible wish.
