I get to see this billboard every morning on my commute now. They just put it up.

  • I wasn't paying very close attention to where we were, but it was near the airport, either the tail end of Route 22 or the little stretch of 78 that we take before getting onto 95. Eastbound side.

    Sonic is delicious.

I actually like Jersey, it's MH who hates it, so I made that crack on his behalf.  Where the inlaws live is really nice - lots of land, nice large houses, deer running around (annoying for drivers, fun for our dog), etc.

  • Apparently his girlfriend lives in New Jersey
  • Also in NJ you dont have to turn left. There are those awesome jughandles or whatever.  I hate making left turns across traffic bc I am a wimp.

Those annoy the crap out of me!  It's so counterintuitive and more often than not leads to me missing my turn.

It's AWESOME for those of us who are not ambi-turners!!!  lol.

Also, you dont have to pump your own gas.

but they have weird rules about drinking on sundays. we went to brunch one sunday and couldnt get a mimosa before like 1.  WHAT KIND OF BRUNCH IS THAT?!?

  • I do hate NJ liquor laws. I'm from CA and the fact that you can't buy any alcohol in a grocery store is a source of constant frustration--I hate that Trader Joe's doesn't have cheap beer/wine.

This must be a county thing, because I have never had this problem.

Hunterdon. Are they weirder out there??  It was so sad.  But I do think at the bar we could drink earlier, hence why his friends who live there go to the bar as early as they can. We just couldn't get mimosas at brunch Crying

Its not that you cant, they just have limited liquor licenses so not ALL grocery stores can sell. You just need to schlep to the TJs in Westfield. Which, is closer to you than me, so stop whining Stick out tongue

At least my Wegmans sells booze.

  • Hunterdon is fairly Republican and not really Jersey-like at all.

I dont want to think about all the additional car accidents that would occur if not for jughandles. *shudder*

you'd hate bergen county.  it's one of, if not the, richest county in the state and there is no shopping on sundays.  all home improvement, clothing and furniture stores are closed.  the only things open are food stores and entertainment venues.

CC tried to have them repealed when he was first elected.  the residents FREAKEDTHEFUKKOUT and in his first lesson in "sucking up to your biggest campaign donors", he backpeddled like he was about to go over niagra falls.

But the one in Millburn is so much closer. ::whine::  I usually just make the trek to Total Wine and stock up. I think it might be better that we do all the alcohol purchasing at once so we can be properly horrified at the amount we buy on a weekly basis.

because the puritans said so.  and then it became "OUR TRAFFIC SOOO BAD!!!  WE DON'T WANT BAD TRAFFIC ON SUNDAY TOOOOO!!!!111!11!!"

you can see what little sympathy i have for that argument.

Only in Bergen County. They also aren't part of the real NJ. I worked up there for 3 years and they truly dont think the rest of the state exists.

Old Blue Laws.  It's not all of NJ, just Bergen County (at least, could be more counties but I've only experienced this in Bergen).  When I lived in Hoboken I forgot about the Sunday thing all them time.  I'd be all happy, driving to Target and then bam, closed.
