SA Wednesday

I had to start this morning because I am in a little bit of shock/uncomfortability.  I came in this morning and one of my teammates said she had a late bday present for me and to close my eyes.  I open them and there is a Tiffany's bag sitting in front of me.  She got me a bracelet which is SO sweet but I know the approximate price tag and to me that is just crazy.  I am super appreciative and in awe but at the same time to have someone at work spend that kind of money just seems crazy/uncomfortable.

I can definitely see why it would weird you out, but I also know that it's impossible to know someone else's financial situation. She may have had a Tiffany's GC and just not been a jewelry person herself. Might have been on crazy-good sale. Or you could just be a really bad-a$$ boss. Either way, the best thanks you can give someone for a good gift is to enjoy it thoroughly!

  • Deepthi, we are fairly close but not overly, I have tried to help her along and encourage her since I got here (but I do the same for everyone), she is a very sentimental person though.

Chelsea, thanks for that point of view, I didnt think of it like that.

  • It's WR (most likely the last one), but my post on my album and wedding montage went up on weddingbee today.

  • Yesterday was a very citatious day (no, I don't think that's a word, I'm making it up).  I get to my car after work yesterday and I have a parking ticket for "improper display of parking tag."  Um, it's on my windshield showing all the dang information, what else do you want?  I was really tempted to make multiple copies of it and plaster it all over my windshield this morning but I didn't.  I have 10 days to pay it or it will double; no thanks I'll be trying to appeal this.  Then we get our mail and we have a citation for our lawn which I have been expecting (it was taken care of before we got the letter)  and found funny and "trash" being in the front yard, which is really my garden planter box do-dads.  Thankfully there was no fine with this one.

I forgot my gigantic water bottle at home (64 ounces or so) so my only choice is this 8 ounce water bottle.

  • I got some pretty heartbreaking news about a friend of mine that I am having a hard time with.  The person that I've known all of my life ISN'T the person that he is being made out to be... but the problem that I have is that there has to be SOME truth to the story or it wouldn't be on the news.

My heart hurts for the family... they're like a family to me too.

  • I got In-N-Out last night, and for the first time in my life, I couldn't finish a Double-Double. It was super yummy... I just couldn't finish it. Fingers crossed for stomach shrinkage!

Otherwise, I'm just in a fantabulous mood this week. Its the two-year anniversary of me being a full-time small-business owner, which we were told would NEVER happen in this economy. So yeah. Proud Chelsea.

  • Jaymi - Hopefully you can get out of it without paying. They did to me once too.. once I appealed it was dropped.

Brianna - Hope it works itself out.

    Chelsea - Congrats!!!

  • Anyone work for a super awesome company thats hiring?

I have a really great thing going here at my job, but unfortunately because I don't work at our corporate office (and I'm not interested in moving to NJ) there is not any advancement opportunity here.     I'm not one to jump ship because I know the grass is never greener, but I do want to find a place where I can advance.

I have a BS in Economics from TCU and a MBA from UTA, and 6 years of work experience in both an analytical and management roles.

If you know of anything/anyone.. please let me know! :)

I like the green...that is what I voted for!  Very unique Lauren.

I don't have time to look at the video but I will definitely put that on my to-do list for later.

  • DH's grandmother passed away last night.  I am very sad for him and his family.  We will be travelling out of town for the services.  I probably will not be at book club.

As you know I love my company, I looked online and saw a few analyst jobs and whatnot.

Search for FT with zipcode 75019 and see if there is anything interesting.  If there is anything you are interested in let me know and I can let our recruiter know to grab your application.

  • What a great gift Bobbileigh.  I would feel a little uncomfortable as well but Chelsea has some great points.  Maybe your encouragement has just been what she's needed lately and she was just showing her appreciation.
  • Thanks Bobbileigh and Deepthi!  I will take a look at these today.

Lacey - I'm really sorry to hear that. T&P's to you guys.  :(

I am so sorry for your loss, I will definitely keep you in my thoughts today and this weekend.

  • BL - wow on the gift.  I can see how that would make you uncomfortable (I would feel that way), but Chelsea had some good points.

Chelsea - Yay, what an accomplishment!  Hope you guys feel immensely proud.

Lacey - sorry about DH's grandma.  T&P's for him and his family.

Jaymi - Campus parking stinks.  No matter what campus you are on.

Tiffany - I don't know much out there.  But good luck!

Brianna- Hmph.  Not sure what it is that is going on, but sorry you feel conflicted about a friend.

  • Lacey, I am so sorry.  I'll be praying for you guys too.

Dinner at Hibiscus last night was amazing.  Pretty sure I blew my diet for the day, but I tried to be sensible and only had small portions of all the really fattening stuff, so I wasn't miserable when I left!  That is definitely a new thing for me... I used to inhale all the yummy food I could, but now I stick to the smaller portions and feel much much better - physically, and about myself :)

I am super duper sleepy this morning, and still weirded out by a strange dream I had that seemed to last all night long.  I've been having the strangest dreams lately.

  • Oh yeah, I commented on everyone else and forgot my SA....

not much except: Gig Em Aggies, To the SEC! WHOOP!

Baylor, lay off of it.  You are just upset that you might not be invited to another conference.

  • So it doesn't sound so vague... here is the story on my friend:

    http://www.wfaa.com/news/Teachers-arrest-spurs-town-hall-meeting-129350553.html

Normally, I would say "what a pig!" but I actually know this guy personally.  Like, I've been friends with him since freshman year of HS and went to college with him too... invited to my wedding, close family friend... the works.  While there is obviously SOME truth to the story (or it wouldn't have been reported).  I feel like this has become a "pile on effect".  Or atleast, I hope so.  This whole thing is heartbreaking.

Oh my goodness.   Any way you can contact him and see what's up?   If it really is a pile-on he may be in need of friends and support right now.  :-/

That sucks!  I sometimes miss being in school, but I DEFINITELY don't miss parking.  I paid more in parking tickets at UTA than I did tuition.  I had a nice scholarship,  but still.

  • Lacey - Thoughts and Prayers for you, your DH and his family.

ETA Jaymi - Thanks!  I really like how the album turned out.

  • We moved into our house this weekend - and it feels so great to have SPACE!! However, DH was working in the garage and discovered an uninvited guest living in our water heater closet. Don't know what it is, but not good. Until the exterminator comes, i will be parking in front of the house.

I've missed all of the posts this week, so I'm off to catch-up on what's been going on!

  • BL - I agree with Chelsea. Enjoy the awesome gift!

Bri - I have something very similar going on in my life with an uncle and I know how you feel. I will add both you and your friend to my prayer list.

Chelsea - I have found that I am also unable to gorge myself like old times. Yay for smaller stomachs!

Lacey - hugs and prayers for you, your DH and family. I am sorry for your loss!

I am on my phone and cant look at the thread, so anyone I missed, good morning and good thoughts to you too!

This morning I self administered a triple dose of therapy with John Mayer, the sunroof and Starbucks but I still feel melancholy today. I did so very very well yesterday but I am learning my bravado is not bulletproof. No apologies please, just a good thought or hug if you've got one to spare. :)

Oh my gosh that's crazy!!! Hopefully it has been blown out of proportion, but if they already did an investigation there has to be something behind it, or they would have reinstated him.  How scary!

  • Tiffany - He deleted his FB (and his myspace - which he hasn't used in years) because news reporters and bloggers were taking his pictures and posting them.  And they were also calling him some pretty awful names.  I've tried texting him.  I'm worried that he will do something to himself over all of this because his whole life's dream was to be a teacher.  He even just finished his master's to be a Principal.  I know that he is staying with his parents right now to get away from the media... but ugh, it just kills me.  I have tried texting him, and my best friend tried calling him.
