I have a lot of anxiety about the upcoming 9/11 anniversary. I want to watch all the specials on TV, but I always come out a wreck by the end.

I'm cooking eggplant for the first time tonight, I hope it's good!

    Me too.

Also, I made eggplant parm recently and I found the eggplant to be kind of bland. Later I breaded and fried some and it was the bomb. The best tip I have is to make sure you soak the pieces in water after peeling and prior to cooking until the water turns amber or it tends to be kind of bitter.

  • All I know is, I happened to catch that TCU/Baylor game at the hotel Friday night and it was one of the most exciting games I have ever seen, college or pro.  I was riveted!

Does anyone watch Sons of Anarchy?

I saw probably 15 posts on FB last night about this show.  I'm thinking maybe I should start watching it!

Thanks for the tip! I'm doing parm as well, but I'm going to bread then bake it. Some recipes said to soak it and some didn't, but I will definitely be sure to do that!

  • A lady just called me about prom.  It's September and that's not happening until May.  Can I please just get a little bit of room here?

Also, I just found out that my ILs are coming to visit.  During homecoming week.  At least I'll have a good excuse to not be around much.

Julie, I read this really fast, and I could have SWORN you said "a lady just called me about PORN".

You accidentally gave me my LOL for the day, and I am forever grateful.

  • Remember my SA from this morning about how car repair places are crooks?

Here are the cliff notes:  hose in Mel's car breaks, fluid and smoke everywhere.  Dealer says it's a 4 hour job to the tune of $540.  Really?  4 hours for a hose.  Even I know that's absurd.  Ben Oks the job (since time is somewhat of the essence) but starts calling other dealerships.  Gets quotes around the $340 range and less than 2 hours.  Ben even anonymously calls the DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR IS and they quote him $360 and 1.6 hours.  So he says nothing until he gets there.  Armed with his information, he asks them to pull up the service on the computer -- and there it is, a 1.6 hour job that they were going to charge us 4 hours of labor for.  In the end, it's $389 with their apologies.

Word to the wise:  do your research.

Wow!!  What jerks!  Good thing your DH did do his homework!  I would have loved to see their faces when they knew they had been caught.

I tried but it's just too bloody violent for me.  The older I get, the less I can tolerate for some reason.

I hate this!! I am glad you were able to get it fixed quickly though.

That's crazy, but I don't doubt that it happens more often than not.  Glad you were able to get the lower price/labor time!

Me either, I walk out for those parts.  :)

  • I just came across 2 non US male students checking out our new lactation room with confused looks on their face and acted like they just got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.  I didn't want to nor did I have time to explain.
  • I was bored and was lurking on the DFW Bump board and a woman asked if it was okay to hunt while pregnant. Another woman answered her that she was going hog hunting this weekend, so sure!

I kind of love these women and I don't know why. Maybe it's the idea of being able to keep some semblance of bad ass status while pregnant that intrigues me.

Jaymi - that made me LOL!
