Re: Whatever Friday
TGIF! I couldn't be more happy. This week has been a rough one. I've missed joining in on the chats. I do have a question for the Vegas ladies.
*Did you go with a group of people or just as a couple? DH is convinced it won't be any fun just he and I. I want to convince him otherwise.
I've been as "just a couple", and I want to go back again that way, but I'd also love to go with a group of couples. I think a SMALL group would be more fun than a big group, though. Just two or three couples. Otherwise, you're stuck trying to find places that can accommodate everyone, or splitting up into smaller groups anyway.
I flame my stupid stupid self. From Tuesday to mid-yesterday, I didn't drink hardly anything. I was just go-go-go, and I stopped to eat, but it never even occured to me that I should have a flippin' glass of water. Cue 4:30 yesterday on the way to a session, and I felt like DEATH. Mack figured out what was wrong, verbally smited me, and made me drink 2.5 bottles of water over the next two hours. Eventually I felt better, but I still have a wicked headache today.
Luckily, sweet dear sarcastic husband has set alarms on my phone to go off every half hour or so, saying, "TAKE A DRINK, MORON." He loves me.
I've never just been as a couple (although going with my family is like going as a couple since we normally have our own plan and just meet up for meals and shows). I had fun going with a group of girls my senior year in college, but the majority of my times has been with my family. I think you can have fun either way, as a couple or with a small group!
Bio Good Times
It's Friday..and I thought I had made stellar time getting ready this morning. I got to work and realized I have no makeup on besides my foundation, and I'm still wearing my flip flops. Oops.
Amanda - We went as a couple and had a good time, but not everyone would. We spent a lot of time together, but are also completely cool splitting up. He would go play table games for hours while I was in complete (mostly window) shopping bliss, spent a whole day at the spa, etc. I also spent some time enjoying the slot machines, haha. We had some awesome dinners and saw a show. We went to the outlet mall together, etc.
We aren't into the club scene or the late night Vegas festivities, other than gambling. If that is your thing, then I would think a group would be more fun.
There is a sign in the hallway advertising the UTA book club. Book choice? Henrietta. We are visionaries ladies.
I can't wait to see you all tomorrow, I look forward to it all month.
Also, random...but am I the only person on earth who still wants to dress up and go to church. Sing songs from the hymnal with a real choir, organ, and orchestra?
I mean, seriously. The church we go to had 2 contemporary and 2 traditional services, and they are transitioning this month to only 1 traditional service...which I know will not be the same.
Everywhere else we have gone I feel like I have been at an alternative rock concert and everyone wears jeans. I know I shouldn't be a church snob, but that really just doesn't do it for me.
I'm sad.
/end rant
Chelsea, I can completely relate I have had an odd headache the last two days (not my normal kind) and I was able to directly relate it to only drinking about 40oz of water which for me is really low. I have been super hydrating last night and today.
Tiffany, I hate when that happens, I have forgot deoderant and even one time to put on a bra.
Its Friday and I am sad I wont be able to join you ladies, but hope my work thing is fun. My best friend just set a date to get married in Vegas on March 26th which really excited me because we will be close on our anniversaries so we are already talking about a 3 year anniversary celebration vacay!
Amanda - I haven't been to vegas so I'm no help. I'm a bit jealous of your trip, have fun!
Chelsea - HA! Drink up girl!
Tiffany - I hate when I do that. I totally forgot to put on makeup one day a while back. People all day kept coming up to me and asking if I did something different with my hair b/c I looked different. Sheesh people, I don't wear THAT much makeup!
I'm excited about the GTG tonight! I'll be there, but it will probably be closer to 6.

We went as just a couple and had a great time! Like someone else mentioned, we are completely happy doing our own thing so we each explore what interested us. We're also not really into the clubbing thing anymore, so tended to do nice dinners and shows each night.
In my opinion, it's a great place for just the two of you. But it kind of depends on what sort of trip you're looking for.
It also probably didn't hurt that I won $800 on a slot machine
I like modern worship music too... don't get me wrong. I'm a hands-up praise-er in the car. But I like church to be more solemn and traditional. I think it reminds me that I'm serving the same God my grandparents and their grandparents did. Unchanging.

Love this. Who needs flowers when you get a reminder every 30 minutes of his undying love and devotion?
Yesssss!!!
Happy Friday!!
Excited for this weekend - neither of us has to work so we FINALLY get to explore Dallas a bit. I feel like we're missing out on so much, so it will feel good to get out and about.
I think that tomorrow we'll be heading to the Farmers Market. Not sure what else - any suggestions?
Oh, and I found four AWESOME dining room chairs on Craigslist. Can't wait to go pick them up!
Have a great time at Book Club this weekend! Hopefully I can join next month....
Chelsea - I sent you a FB message.
I'll have to post and run but this is why, when we go, we go to the church that we got married in. They still have traditional masses and it makes me feel comfortable.
YUM!!! I need to get one of those things. I don't like having anything with fire/hot wax around where Dorothy can pull it down, but I would kill for a little pumpkin/cinnamon/apple spice smell in the office today!
ETA: Leslie, I responded on FB!
To add to the church discussion... I am with most of you in that I LOVE the traditional church service. But I am Catholic, so typically about as modern as a service gets is having someone play the guitar for some of the hymns instead of the organ or piano. I'm totally ok with that. For Christmas eve every year, and a few other special masses, our church has a brass choir playing. I just got goosebumps thinking about it. It is so beautiful.
Wow Julie, you drive all the way to Christ the King for Church? That seems far. But if you are interested in driving that far, you should check out St Monica's where we now go. One of the Priests is an Aggie and says "Howdy" to everyone as they are leaving church. I love it!

Come to my church (if you want to drive ALL the way to Corsicana) all they sing are traditional and with an organ. Its Prebyterian.
AND....I entered a contest through Uptown Village in Cedar Hill for a fall fashion gift bag, and I won!!!!!!! I never win! woohoo excited! Here is the stuff I won:
@Amanda- We have gone to Vegas as a couple, with friends and with family. We have always had fun. DH and I are kind of "independent vacationers" though. I like to get up early, he doesn't. He likes to gamble late at night, I don't. We do plenty together while there, but we do some stuff separately, too.
@Tiffany- I couldn't agree with you more...besides the no jeans part! I wish we could find a place where casual dress was okay, but they put some traditional music in the mix, asked you to pull out your bible to follow along and even offered an altar call. We feel like we can't find anywhere we fit.
@Book Club ladies- I hope you all got the address. If you didn't, PM me with your email and I will get it to you. Ladies, feel free to park in my driveway, at least two cars can fit there.
My parking citation that I got Tuesday turned out to be a bad ticket and I don't have to pay. Woohoo.
If you have a project that is due on Friday and you know you need help, your best option is to wait until Friday when no one can help you. FALSE.
I've never been to Vegas but I really don't understand why you would not have fun with someone you typically have fun with. Why does your destination change that fact?
I completely understand the rock concert you talk about Tiffany. That's one of the things I do not care about much at our new place. It reminds me too much of a past church that I did not have a good experience with.
Speaking of Fall scents, that pumpkin spice latte that everyone seems to love is back at Starbucks from what I hear.
I'm really tired of breaking out. NOTHING is making it go away. I did just get a new face wash and new makeup about a month ago so I've wondered if that's it but DH said it was probably stress from work and I think he's right as its been this bad for 2 weeks now.
I'm dying!!!!
That's why I use Scentsy... it's warm (warm enough to melt the wax), but not hot enough to scald or seriously burn someone. Cadence stuck her finger in the wax one day and didn't cry a tear... so we're safe. It's one of their selling points! lol
Right now, I have "Pumpkin Marshmallow" going in my office and it smells sooo good in here.

Tiffany - DH is the same way with church. He wants it traditional and old school.
I now want to go to Vegas, minus the plane ride.
Brianna - I want a Fall scentsy candle. I can smell them from here.
Ladies - enjoy book club tomorrow. We are packing up tonight and heading out of town in the morning.
Mandaroo - I agree with shortgirl. I have fun with Ben wherever we go so I don't think Vegas will be any different. We are seeing CDS, eating 2 nice dinners, and hitting a couple of lounges, but no nightclubs. Sunday we're having brunch and hanging out at the pool all day. To me it sounds like a blast and I cannnot WAIT!
I have transitioned more to contemporary worship simply because it's always the later service which agrees with me more timewise. About the only time I go to traditional service is on Easter, but I still love it also. Contemporary worship done with a lighter hand still brings me to tears but I have definitely experienced rock concert type of worship when visiting other churches and it is not my thing either. Although I've never heard the phrase "rock on Jesus" in any church and I hope I never do.
I decided not to try and make the GTG but I will see you BC girls tomorrow. I had no idea what to get as far as drinks so I got Smartwater, raspberry lemonade and sweet tea. Let me know if you think I should bring something else entirely.
Lacey, we will be thinking of you guys this weekend.
With All the Trimmings
Just do it!
I have been to Vegas as both, a couple and with a big group. I much prefer just as a couple. It's still a great time. My H and I used to go all the time for 2 or 3 days as just a little getaway! Where are you staying?

I've been applying for jobs here in DFW for four weeks now. The week before we moved I was back in California and got three phone calls for interviews. When I explained I was in the process of moving and would be there in a week, and could interview then, all three wanted nothing to do with me. And now, I haven't had a single call since we actually moved here.
It's infuriating!

I feel the same way. DH wears jeans and he knows it bugs me. I guess going to and Indian church no one ever wears jeans and I'm not use to it. I keep having to remind myself it's a good thing we have so many people still coming to mass. I have to say our church started doing some more secular songs you hear on 94.9, but they are the slower songs and it's ok with me. They did start clapping on day and that was a no no in my book.
