I have to ask - when did this board lose its sack? One thing that is so great about the Nest is the ability to call people out on their sh!t and hash out the *issues*. Now whenever someone tries to confront someone/something or god forbid more than 2 people agree, a group shaming occurs and its called a "pile on."

I think that people should be called out on these boards - not that that was the intent of the OP. But the fact is that Sisugal is a troll on this board - she fits the definition of it. I don't care if she shares recipes and kitting patterns on every other board and website in the world - HERE she is a troll. I don't see why that calling out or simply pointing out should be a cause to shame the ones doing it.

I feel I should clarify that I never read MM so I don't know anything about MM Sisu. I also know nothing about Sisu personally so my problem with her is strictly from what she posts. It annoys the crap out of me that she makes every single thread about Obama and makes sh!t up all the time but seems to expect us to take it as seriously as posts that are sourced.

Or maybe she doesn't and she just is a very well-developed troll who enjoys stirring the pot with random anti-Obama crap. In which case, you win Sisu. I admit that you have perfected the art of pushing my buttons.

Personally, I never perceived the animosity to be personal, but rather more sarcastic in an eye-roll sort of way (the Pi jokes) related to the fact that Sisugal is opinionated and she is cons (which isn't exactly the majority on this board), but more because in posts that are discussing serious issues and require references to back-up thoughts/opinions/statements - she often doesn't provide any and many times there are none to support some of her statements. To that point, the dems are quick to pile-on other dems when they do the same thing.

 I suppose what I really like about Sisugal is that no matter how much shits she takes and how many Pi jokes get thrown at her, she doesn't back-pedal on her position/statements (supported with facts or not), and it doesn't stop her  from still throwing her views out there, again, even when she doesn't back them up. She just sort of ignores the slams AND requests for references which I find amusing.

i debated about even posting in this thread, but since I gave a fairly terse response to Sisu this morning I guess I should clarify that I don't have an issue with her.  I generally don't participate in the pile-ups and think for the most part she gets an unfair rap on the board.  I think she offers really good financial advice even though I completely disagree with her on political issues or current events.  The talking point that she referenced in her post this morning has been a point of soreness for me over the last couple of days and she probably got the brunt of that frustration.

But she posts things on MM that kind of "flesh her out" so to speak so it makes me like her more on here, does that make sense?

for example. It cracks me up that she loves shoes.  And despite her frugality, one time someone asked about buying a bike and she was all "it's your health. Spend the money.  My DH spends thousands a year on his bike." or something.  But I don't think we see those things over here so to most PCErs she is just a SN and it is easy to be mean to a SN.

I agree with this. Y'all need to spend time with MM Sisu. 

ETA: But I stand by my earlier comment about the pop in/post/poofs she does here being tiresome for me.

I love Sisugal for her non sequiturs, they are hilarious.  Example.

Seriously though, at least on MM she brings a good perspective of someone who is extremely financially conservative, given our society's tendency toward immediate gratification.  She has kids who I think are college-aged or older, and has shared before her opinion on how to get to the other side of parenthood with a minimum of debt, which as the mom of little ones I appreciate.

Yeah, I was going to let that go.  There are plenty of people on this board at least as liberal as me... but I'm ok with it.

 

I am, though, starting to get upset with the "they can't possibly be that conservative and/or that idiotic. they must be a liberal troll," as was hypothesized in this case, and is often the theory behind Ann Coulter and some others.  Honestly, they can be that conservative and/or idiotic. I just think it makes people uncomfortable to see that level of... whatever you want to call it... and not think it's a joke. It's no joke.

 

 

ETA: maybe we should do husbands day.  My H makes me look positively moderate.

She's so judgemental of the way other people spend their money and is SUCH a downer (there is a difference between "being blunt" and "being obnoxiously Eeyore-ish".  But her husband spends thousands on something that's completely unneeded?  Maaaaaan, bump that ish.

Plus, I imagine almost everything she says with a *sniffandhurrflip* at the end.

Well, when you are frugal and living with no debt, I guess you earn the bluntness. ::shrugs::  As long as she is not saying you are an idiot, I don't see it is rude or downer-ish.

Oh yeah. It is very welcoming here in this post.  Those being picked on can stand up for themselves any time too, but....

Look, all I know is that as someone who had a couple "Oh my god I hate her" threads dedicated to her on other boards, and a more recent round of "she's just so sad; I feel sorry for her", I feel like carrying on a discussion about someone's relative merits and deficiencies is squicky (is that the word?).  Yeah, it's so noble because "at least you're not talking about her behind her back."  Yeahno.  PM someone and talk about her behind her back.  No one needs to read an entire thread debating whether they're likeable.  

And that's all I'm going to say about that.

I don't think it's a pile-on to consistently ask for a source.  No, we don't ask that of everyone all the time, but any time someone makes a wild claim, we do.  Sisugal makes those claims regularly with nary a source.

When I read on my phone, I can't see names without scrolling.  I have about a 95% accuracy identifying her posts from the first sentence.  It's usually some strong but baseless claim.  Other people don't write like that.  It frankly has begun amusing the hell out of me b/c my new game is to predict what she'll say.  It's a harder game, but I'm getting pretty good at it.
