Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I have the dreaded man cold. Please send help. This is horrible. :-S
  • I am wearing my husbands deodorant today because I ran out of mine and can't get to the store to buy more. I keep wondering what smells so good. Yup, that's me...

  • We traded in my sedan for a SUV/crossover with a 3rd row last week, which means that I'm driving our usual 'family car,' a crossover that Husband typically drove, as my everyday car.  Now, my husband is meticulously clean, but of the variety where everything appears spotless as long as you don't open any closet doors.

Every time I open the trunk, the glove compartment, even the little slidey thing that covers the cup holders, toys, receipts, and other random crap (i.e. trash) falls out.  It's driving me insane, but I've found at least $10 among the receipts so far.

  • H has this 2-foot tall plastic Captain Morgan coin bank. He's been collecting coins (mostly pennies) in it since college. We have schlepped this thing around in two dozen moves, across four states, and have yet to take it to a coin counter.

It's about half full.  Part of me wants to see how much money is in it now; the other part of me is morbidly curious how long it will take to fill up the whole thing.

  • @cnthrdlywt2bwZ Sorry about the no sleep. Congrats on the promotion though!! That's awesome!  Does your office have a door? :)

  • I'm tired. I've been working 9-5 and following that with a class from 5:30-8:45 every day.I just need sleep and food and comfy clothes. Leaving at 8:30 am and getting home at 9:15 pm every day is killing me.

  • @MrsC7 - just out of curiousity, how heavy is the 2-ft tall coin pirate?

@cnthrdlywt2bwZ - Congrats on your promotion!  That's awesome!

  • @RiverPlate - pretty heavy. I have trouble picking it up without bending my knees first.

  • I'm planning on taking like a 3 hour lunch today to go shopping. If I have to be at work on my birthday next week I want to have a cute outfit on. ;)

  • I had a root canal on Tuesday and my mouth has been throbbing since.  I finally called the dentist yesterday because they said I should only have minimal pain, not throbbing, so they prescribed me some pain medication.  But, that didn't help.  I was up most of the night feeling throbbing.  I'm waiting to call again this morning to see if I can get in.  My mouth feels horrible and all I really want to do is go under a blanket and cry. :(

I'm sorry @fabk!  I hope you feel better soon.

In the meantime, you're just going to lay on the couch and moan and do absolutely nothing because the world stops when you are sick, right?

  • @cnthrdlywt2bwZ Congrats!

I have 39 more days until the baby is due. I feel like I should be more panicked because nothing is ready.

Also, this is more of a confession, and it's long, so feel free to skip over my vent, which probably portrays me as a heartless bitch.

I'm not really involved in my father's side of the family at all because they're so dysfunctional. My half-sister on my father's side got pregnant at 19 and has had non-stop drama since then. In November they broke up for good, he moved out...she started telling everyone that he was abusive and he was secretly a terrible person and all this crap. I have a hard time believing this, and wasn't quiet about my skepticism. This turned me into a total bitch and my family was appalled that I wasn't more supportive of what my sister went through. My sister is a born victim, which annoys me to no end. ANYWAY, fast forward to January, and she confesses that she actually married the guy in August at the courts, and now she wants my dad to pay for her divorce. My dad agrees, as long as she doesn't change her mind, so he puts it on her to make the appointment with the lawyer, yadda yadda.

Fast forward again to the other night. I get a call at 3am from another sister on my dad's side (there are 5 of us, no joke). She's sobbing hysterically and tells me that baby-daddy is dead. He got hit by a car and it's so tragic. Now, I agree that anyone dying at 22 is a terrible thing. His whole life was ahead of him, and who knows how he would've turned out. What KILLS me is my dad's entire family saying that they're heartbroken over this loss. These are the same people that were bad-mouthing him a few weeks ago and fluttering around my sister like she was a combat survivor, and now they have nothing but nice things to say about him. I can't pretend to be broken up over this news. I'm sorry for my niece, who won't have a dad, and I'm sorry for his family, because I can't imagine what it's like to lose a son....but I'm not even remotely sorry for my sister who is not a widow at 22, especially after so adamantly saying she wanted a divorce.
    ::end rant::

It will have a door! And windows! (Looking down on our indoor lobby, but still.) It's a great step for my career and they're already working on some transition things.

@nocturalintimacy- I hear ya. I have very little done compared to some of the other girls on my BMB. I stalked my registry and saw someone bought our car seat (in addition to a bunch of other stuff) so I'm looking forward to my shower knowing if nothing else, I have a way to get DD home from the hospital now. I have a bassinet in our room, some newborn diapers & hand-me-down clothes. Don't have a hospital bag packed, don't have a coming home outfit picked, haven't taken any classes, nursery has a crib but no mattress & haven't done the hospital tour yet. Reality hasn't hit me yet that I am going to be taking home a real, live human being next month and I am going to be someone's mom. It's going to be interesting.

  • The kitten literally shredded an ENTIRE brand new roll of toilet paper last night.  I got up this morning and the brand new roll in the guest room was shredded down to the cardboard and the shreds were strewn around the floor like confetti.

Actually, I still call him the kitten but he is HUGE.  He is the biggest cat in the house now.  But he will always be the kitten to me.

  • Walking through the train station this morning I saw Cosi (it's a sandwich place) has Valentine's Day treats-sugar cookie things stuffed with Nutella. I know where I am going for lunch today.

  • Speaking of food, Dunkin Donuts has this new cookie dough donut for Valentine's Day and I'm SO intrigued and tempted to buy one.  HOWEVER, DD's donuts aren't that great, so I know I'll just end up with a brick in my stomach and full of regret.
