But, I think you'll know when you're ready, because the desire for a baby will outweigh the desire to do all of those other things, and the desire for your "freedom". I don't know, I'm just guessing. Because since I'm not ready, I don't really know what it'll feel like. LOL. But, I'm assuming that's when I'll know I'm ready.

This is how I feel. I actually was really into babies during our engagement -- thought every one we saw at a restaurant was just adorible, was excited about getting married and having kids some day. (And this was unusual, because in my early 20's/before I met DH, I never even noticed babies. Ever.) Then the second we got married, it kind of switched off.

Now when I see a baby in a restaunt, either they are crying or fussing, or they are sitting quietly but I'm watching how the mom is cutting up its food/watching it instead of being able to eat her meal/etc. All the sudden all I can see is the sacrifice it takes, and I know I'm not ready. (I knew I wasn't ready before, too, actually, just liked gushing over them).

I'm hoping it switches back on someday AND is coupled with actually being ready to be parents.

We just got back from Costco shopping, and getting my car registration renewed.  Payday money seems to fly by.

Haha, doesn't it?! It's like you get paid, and by the end of the weekend it's already gone!

I watched the first few seasons of Nip/Tuck, but then it got really freakin weird and gave me nightmares, so I had to stop.  That was like season 3 or 4 or something, I can't remember.

Yeah I've heard that Nip/Tuck just got waayyy out there towards the end. H used to be an avid watcher but he said towards the end he stopped watching because it was just too weird and crazy.

My Husband did the same thing.

One show that needs to end is the Office! I loved it, but honestly it's just getting crazy.

I'm sure it will. For me it changes depending on my mood and the time of the month, and so many other factors. But when I sit down and think about it logically, I know I'm not ready and won't be for a few years.

Sometimes I think as women we let our hormones and uterus's take over the rational part of our brains a little bit.  Stick out tongue

  • I can honestly say I've tried here and there to watch The Office, and some episodes/parts are funny, but I never liked it enough to watch every episode or to watch it every week.

Leslie - hopefully next month will bring better news!

I watch Grey's but I gotta agree that it's probably time to wrap it up.

I know!  And I hate it!

I LOVE the office!  It is probably my favorite show!  I still find all the reruns to be hilarious :-)  Though I haven't liked the latest season really.

  • I'm so late to the party today but SD and I have been getting ready to leave for Schlitterbaun whenever DH gets home.  Hopefully he'll be home soon.  I can only keep a 6 yr old busy and distracted from the "big surprise" for so long.

Dr appt went well yesterday.  I'm measuring 7w6d and the baby's heartbeat is 160bpm.  Our due date is Feb 20, 2012!!!!  We got a picture and I went and bought "What to Expect When Expecting".  I finally feel like I can get excited about it.  YEAH

AT&T is driving me insane.  I want to upgrade my phone but if I upgrade I lose my unlimited data and messaging.  It wouldn't be a huge deal if I wasn't on a family plan and my mom and DH losing their unlimited stuff.  DH uses his phone for work a lot and goes over the 2GB almost every month so just for me upgrading my phone it will cost everyone more each month.  Such a PITA!

Sara, when you get a moment would you e-mail the recipe to the dessert you brought to book club? I want to make it next week for my teacher planning we'll be doing all week.

    Thanks!

HI!  I will email you when I get home tonight.  I am glad you liked it and it is so easy to make!

DH loves the pranks (as do I) and he recently stopped asking me (very excitedly I might add) if they were a.) new episodes and b.) if Dwight saw the trees that "sprouted" from those magic beans Jim gave him.

  • Summer - Congratulations on the A!!  Whoo hooo!  I used to watch Nip/Tuck...I loved it but it did get really crazy!!

Sarah - Yay for the new job!!  I hope you love it!

    Kathy - that's great news!!!

Leslie - I feel your pain.  It's hard to not get a little down about it.  It's amazing how easily it happens for the worst people. Sad

And yes I'm going to face that problem when I upgrade this fall with AT&T.

I'm waiting until the new iPhone comes out, which rumors are saying will be in September. But, I will lose my unlimited data. Boo. Not really any way around it.

Like the people who keep having kid after kid and can't support them, and they're on welfare.

I will never understand why they're given children, but yet it takes well-meaning people so long to get pregnant.

    Mysteries of life.

  • Summer - yep, I totally agree with you on the people that keep having kids that can't support them or take care of them.  My mother for example.  Can't stand her...thank God for awesome grandparents!

Dana & Summer - Why are you losing your unlimited data and messaging??  I upgraded phones last year and I was grandfathered in with the unlimited data and messaging.  Is this something new?  Are we not grandfathered in anymore??  If so, I'm going to be pi$$ed!

Oh maybe you're right....I thought if I signed a new contract, I would have to use the plans they have now.

But that would be awesome if I'm still grandfathered in.

I don't think not wanting kids now or ever is selfish.

I don't understand why some people are so surprised when we say we don't want kids. MIL is the WORST about it. She almost had DH convienced we should have a kid, he came to me one day and said we should have one because mom wants a grandchild. I said I am NOT having a kid because your mother wants grandchildren. My mother is okay with grandpuppies, your mother should be too. Don't get me wrong we both love kids and babies, but they are just not for us. We are happy where we are at, and at this time, babies are not in the plan.

My friend tried to tell me that if I decided one day I didn't want kids, I should have one anyway, for H. Regardless of what I wanted.

I told her that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.

Yes you make sacrifices for your spouse, but you never, ever, ever bring a child into this world if you don't want to, for someone else's sake.

That's a sacrifice I would never be willing to make. For anyone.

WOW! A friend of mine told me it takes a big person to say they don't want kids, lots of people have kids, and don't want them, and then are not happy with their life.

I would probably agree with that. I think it would be more about being confident enough to not care what people think about you, and the decisions you make with your life.

The friend of mine who said that happens to think having children is the end all be all to life, and has absolutely no ambition outside of having babies, so I wouldn't really expect her to say anything else I suppose.

People sometimes judge others if they decide not to have kids, because so many people think that's what you're supposed to do-get married, and reproduce. And something must be wrong with you if you don't do that.

So, in a sense, yes I think it takes a big person to stand up and say "You know what, no, I don't want to do what society thinks I should do, and that's okay."

I don't want to lose it either. I have unlimited right now, and H doesn't. And he has to connect to WiFi most of the time or else he would go over on his data every month. No bueno.

It would be really stupid on their part because they're losing sales on phones by doing that.  Hopefully we are all grandfathered in or I'm not upgrading...EVER!

  • If you upgrade to any type of smart phone, I'm pretty sure you lose the unlimited data. I think the only phones that AT&T still has unlimited data plans for are not smart phones.

  • I totally agree with you all about turning 30. My 20's were all over the place. I think I was 27 before I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up. LOL
  • Jaymi, my sister and I are doing the hundred pushup challenge (google hundred pushups) and theoretically I should now be able to do 100 consecutive pushups... I'm probably going to try on Sunday.  I'm a little nervous to try and not be able to - I'll be sad!  But, I can tell a huge difference in the way my arms look, and I'm loving that, so I'm going to keep including pushups in my routine a few times a week.  We're actually going to take a pushup break and do another challenge for 150 tricep dips next, and then come back to pushups and do real ones.  I don't know what a spider man pushup is, but I'm interested!

I am really bummed right now... I just found out that my favorite coworker, who happens to be a contractor, will be leaving in 2 weeks.  It's kind of a crappy situation for her, but she is my favorite person in my office, both personally and professionally, and I'm really not looking forward to work without her around :(

That's okay, I was 26. Smile At least we figured it out. Some people go their whole lives and never find something they truly want to get up and do every day, they just work to pay the bills.

So in that sense, I don't care how old I was, I just feel very blessed to have figured it out.

Yes, this exactly! I have 1 year left in school and I love my choice so far. What class are you taking in summer school?
