I'm starting injections tonight. I'm having my sister do the first one because I don't want to grab a handful of fat to stick it in for DH. If he hasn't noticed my fatty areas I don't want to accentuate them for him.

I am freaking out slightly about the idea of stabbing myself with a (tiny) needle daily. I am not big on shots.

Good luck!  If I could do it, anyone can.  I used to (and still sometimes do) pass out when getting blood drawn.  I had to really pump myself up to do the shot, and I'd still stand there staring at the (tiny) needle trying to convince myself I could do it.  ETA - and it was never nearly as bad as I made it out to be in my head.  Hoping and praying that all the injections are well worth it in a few weeks!

did you do follistim? one person said the medicine hurts bad, someone else said they had no issue.

I haven't been able to post much since I started my new job, but I have to say I love this job!!!!  We don't have to be here until 9:30 a.m. and we leave at 4 p.m. and then I go home and finish up what I need to do on the very nice super bad @ss laptop they gave me!  I've worked these guys before, it's like falling back into an old routine.

On another note we had to put my cat Tigger to sleep last night.  She was almost 14 yrs old.  I had the most heartbreaking weekend waiting for the vet's office to open.  She was really trying to die, she wouldn't eat or drink, she had to have been in pain.  It made my mom and I cry to force water and her pills in her mouth to hold her over until the vet opened.   :(  Rest in peace my little Tigger.

So glad to hear your new position is going well!

But I'm very sorry to hear about your cat.

I didn't.  I did Gonal-F which is a cheaper version of Follistim.  If you want, I can ask on the Success After IF board since I'm sure a lot have experience with Follistim.  Gonal-F didn't hurt at all though.  The one that hurt was a different injection that I had to use to prevent ovulation.  I can't remember the name of it now, but it stung and left a red rash.  I doubt you're on that medicine though - and I don't recall ever reading people complain that Follistim hurt when I was going through IF treatments.  Let me know if you have any other questions or want me to ask advice about Follistim.  Hoping this is a short-lived time and you can move on to an uneventful pregnancy.

ETA - the burning medicine was Ganirelix.

After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

I have that one too!! Hopefully I don't have to use it. Which is annoying because I paid for it but I'd still rather throw away the money then have it burn! When I got the numbers Follistim came up cheaper then Gonal, the nurse said that's why they perscribe it first.

Brief vent--it's been quite a while since I've felt any kind of homesickness (except for missing friends and family). But suddenly I'm feeling it everywhere.  Seeing the Texans/Jets game on TV made me really miss going to the games.  (We'll even be in town in December, but the one game we'd be able to attend will be OOT!) Reading the post above about everyone dressing their kiddos in their football fan gear makes me miss it even more.  Then seeing photos on Facebook of my friends and their kids doing things like bbq'ing in the back yard, going to festivals, camping, little league baseball games...I just really miss all of it. Sure, the condo has a grill downstairs, but it's not the same.  Sure, they have festivals here, but with the asian bands covering american pop music, and doing their own brand of Singapore pop, it's not the same. And forget baseball.  They just don't have it here.

I really do like it here, and I know I'm looking at it through rose-colored glasses and not accounting for all of the negative stuff, but damn; I'm really homesick all of a sudden. Perhaps I should stay off of the internet.  lol

Stop posting stuff like this you're giving me a panic attack.

Seriously though, I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time today, hope the mood passes quickly.

Aah, I'm sorry! It's passed for the most part.  I think it also just means that I need to crank up the social life.  :)  Summer was quiet around here, since a lot (most) of the expats take extended trips, and we decided to stay put this year.

Claire--Good luck on your injections!  Hope it goes well.

  • Guys are so funny.

DH just got a FB message from his BFF (who lives in Boston).  No words, just pics.

It was nothing but two ultrasound pics!   Of a very well-formed baby face (super cute, huge cheeks)!

Upon further inspection, I noticed that his babymomma was born in 1968, and that the baby is 34w4d along.

No information, no back story on this lady he's having a baby with, nothing.  I NEED MORE INFORMATION!!!!!

Dear DH, it really helps when you have a SA done to actually get the S in the cup!!!  Love, your very frustrasted, and stressed wife.

Yep, he did a SA at home and when he was done, there was so little in the cup you could barely see it.  He said, "sorry, it was hard to aim."  We took it in and they said they could test it, but I'm just worried and frustrated that he got more outside the cup than inside.  They said we won't get the results for at least 10 days.  It took me almost a year to talk him in to actually doing it, and when he does he gets less than a 1/2 a teaspoon sample.  AngryCrying

I couldn't listen to him this morning without thinking about this and giggling.  Probably not the best to tell him that though. Big Smile

  • This morning has been a test in patience and I'm not passing.

Took oldest DD to school at 6:30 this morning for volleyball tryouts.  They would not let her participate because she did not have her physical form.  Except that she took the form to school on the very first day and they made a copy and gave it back.  Luckily she can take it (again) tomorrow and try out.

Middle DD is NOT ANSWERING THE PHONE (pet freaking peeve of mine).  I always call before they need to leave and I even reminded her this morning to make sure she knew where her phone was and that it was on so I could reach her.  I sure hope she caught the bus.

    /vent I think I need coffee.

  • We're normally big on DIY-ing stuff around the house.  But a guy at our church is a painter & really needed some work, so we hired him to take out wall-paper, texturize & paint in our dining room, 2.5 bathrooms & some shelves.  I feel like I live in a fairy tale, I go home & little elves have been busily working while I'm gone making the place look nice.  I cried when my dining room was no longer satin peach florals last week.  I cried again when it was navy blue.  He's finishing up the bathrooms today & I'm certain it will make me cry once more.  Can't wait to have gray built-ins next week :)

    I may never DIY again!

This is a huge pet peeve of mine too.  I think the only time M didn't answer the phone was when I called a little later than normal and she was already outside waiting on the bus.

Well, I believe you live less than 5 miles from me, so he'd definitely go to your house.  I know he's actually gone as far as College Station for some jobs.

His work has been fantastic, if anyone needs a painter, I will give you his info.

Do you know if your walls prepped before they wallpapered, or did they just put it straight on the dry wall?  I might be interested in getting some work done too.

It seems to vary by room.  The dining room & 1 bathroom had been prepped.  The other bathroom & the powder room were not.  So he went about fixing them different ways.

Hmmm.  That's my problem.  The original builder never prepped our walls.  We've decided to gut the upstairs bath, but we are still on the fence about the half bath.

Just changing your name won't work. I just googled your old SN and a bunch of posts where you were paged popped up. All of your responses show up the same, just with your new name. They'll still be able to find you, just with your new name.

I used that screenname for almost everything. They were googling to see what I was talking about on another site. I changed it to be safe. Besides I saw a post today where someones MIL made a SN here and pretended to be pregnant just to see what her DIL was saying about her. I just didn't want my name in my SN anymore.
