Re: Come on in, ladies

  • Musu, You are being safe so everything will be fine. I have sold a lot of things on craigslist.

  • Aw Rach that sucks! I won this iPod last year at school and have never opened it because I have no need for it (we have like 4 ipods and both have iphones too). Its only an 8gb one but its an ipod touch and never been used.

  • Thanks for the reassurance everyone. :P I made sure J and my mom knew where I'd be and that I'd text them both after the sale so they knew I was ok. I'm all about stayin' alive *busts out disco ball*.

  • Sorry, I refuse to quote because it confuses my medicine head.

This is the second time his truck has been broken into. Unfortunately, it's because FI forgot to lock his truck up. Both times he forgot are the times he got broken into. So obviously some (presumably) kid is walking down the street at night just trying door handles.

FI reported it though so hopefully we get a little more surveillance. Our neighborhood is really nice, but at the very end past a tall fence there is a shady apartment complex that I think is the root of our problems.

  • lbarr that is just awful! Seats too? Gah that just amazes me, why would they take the dang seats?

That reminds me of when my mom's house that she has just closed on, was broken into. Someone stole all the copper right after the final walk through so it was too late to back out at that point. Thankfully my cousin is a plumber and he got us a deal but still it sucked.

  • I need to go hunt and gather.  Chat atcha later!

  • That sucks so much Rach. My parents had one of their cars broken into twice while I was growing up, because they had the doors unlocked. Which is weird because usually the neighborhood is really safe. My apartment i lived in last year was in a sketchier area and people's cars were getting broken into a lot. Thankfully mine never was, but I always locked it and turned on the super sensitive security alarm.

  • HI PEOPLE! I can't tell if this thread is dead or not because TN is weird, but hi!

  • I have another irritation. Few things infuriate me more than when I open a bunch of tabs, then one of them starts playing music.

I effing hate most Christmas music. If I wanted to listen to "Frosty the Snowman," I would have sought it out. Instead I was surprised by it when I was trying to find the tutorial to make stocking holders. The stupid blogger buried it at the very bottom of her page.

  • I hope FI has learned his lesson, always lock the doors. My FI has forgotten to lock the house doors before, i'm like "Really?" Oh well gotta love him.

That's great that he reported it, we have a neighborhood like that, it's all nice and quiet but then there's this Shady Town home complex, behind our house and the police are there all the time.

  • I've heard copper is really common to be stolen from homes because of how costly it is. I think MK's brother had a bunch of copper stolen from his house when it was broken into this past spring.

Growing up, my parents had to deal with two kids, two cats, a dog, a guinea pig, countless hamsters and mice, four fish tanks and a newt.

At least one parent made it to every single music recital, school play and sporting event. My brother and I were involved in swimming, diving, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and track. I played piano, trumpet, bass clarinet and hand bells.

Hey, we totally need a bass clarinet for our "orchestra". ;)

  • My computer is about to die and the charger doesn't reach to the couch. SO, I think it's a sign I should take a nap. Talk to y'all later!

  • MuSu- Yeah that's what the cops told us when we reported it and they said it would be hard for them to find who did it.
    image
  • Man, people just suck.

Yes m'am. Then they either try to return it to a Home Depot, get store credit and sell the store credit for slightly less than it's worth for cash for drug money.

  • I need to find a gift for two of our friends. It's supposed to be for both of them and be about $25.

They have a baby (he is being spoiled rotten this year), two dogs and a cat. They like doing things around the house, and they both have very simple tastes. They usually get booze from us, and that booze is not within the budget. They aren't into tablecloths, kitchen gadgets or most decorative home items.

     Any suggestions?

     Gah that's just terrible!

Hmm, I am not good at this at all. I always end up getting gift cards.

Yes it is. With that, I'm out my lovelies. TTYL!

  • Mari- I have no idea what they would need seats for.  It was a Camaro I believe so I'm sure there's some sort of black market for Camaro (or any car for that matter) parts.
  • haha I usually go with gift cards in those cases too. I'm not very creative.

I'm registry stalking right now. There is one item that I want the MOST and it is a painting I found on Macys' website. OMG I want it so badly and I feel like it is kind of quirky so I don't know if anyone will buy it because there are so many more practical gifts on the registry, hah.

  • Most of the scrap places around here are starting to take down DL numbers and I think H said some of them are taking pictures.  There are still the shady places that don't ask questions, but I think most of them are starting to crack down on copper theft.

I'm anti-gift card, with certain exceptions. Last year, my parents bought me a Nook and gave me a GC so I could buy books. I get that. I don't get setting a price limit, then exchanging GCs for that price. In that case, I'd rather save my money.

  • I'm one of those people that prefers gift cards to most things. I am so picky and I don't care about the unwrapping part of a gift so it doesn't bother me that GCs aren't "fun" to unwrap (or wrap for that matter). I love GCs, in fact.
    image
  • lbarr- Yeah i'm sure there is. It's just crazy, I cannot believe someone would spend the time getting them out. I would be afraid of getting caught, but then i'm not a thief so I guess they would be used to it.

MuSu- Gift cards are really so much easier! Haha i've finally given up on trying to decide what FI wants so he's getting a $100 gift card to Home Depot.

  • The only people getting gifts from J and I this year are my brothers, and my SS. haha. Too much wedding crap going on.

ETA: AND SURPRISE! My brothers are getting gift cards. lol. But they will love them.
