Come on in, ladies

Re: Come on in, ladies

  • Woah, you ladies are hard to keep up with! I was only gone for an hour and BOOM :)

Anyways, J&K, my parents gave me a hyphenated last name. So I'm Momslast-fatherslast. Mom's side always makes checks out to Meg Momslast, Father's family uses Meg fatherslast, and my stepdad's side of the family actually uses Meg stepdadslast. Professionally I use Meg Fatherslast because its the easiest to spell and pronounce.

I CANNOT wait to take FI's name, just to avoid the crazy! I so hear you on the bank being a PITA - and I work there! Good luck!

I need to find a gift for two of our friends. It's supposed to be for both of them and be about $25.

They have a baby (he is being spoiled rotten this year), two dogs and a cat. They like doing things around the house, and they both have very simple tastes. They usually get booze from us, and that booze is not within the budget. They aren't into tablecloths, kitchen gadgets or most decorative home items.

     Any suggestions?

What about a kid-friendly dinners cookbook or something like that?

  • MuSu I hear ya on the presents.  We were supposed to do a no presents.. only for FI's nephews and something teeny for each other.  That was doable since all of the wedding stuff will be our "present" in September.  Now it's turned into parents + nephews +something bigger than just stockings for FI an I.  I have gotten hints he got me something good which was not part of the plan.
  • Yeah, our primary reason other than wedding stuff is that we really have like NO money left and we are going on our HM so we'd like to be able to DO things while there, haha.

  • Yup!  Sounds just about right :)

Everyone has been telling me it's not a competition and that if he got me something nice then it's fine.  His list is comprised of socks and work pants... ummm that would be SO crappy to get if he got me a Kindle (which I think he did).  My mom even said I might want to add a few more exciting things to the mix, yikes.

  • lbarr-That was us too, and then my mom tells him she got me something REALLY nice for Christmas, like break the bank nice and i'm like "Seriously!" So I felt bad all I had gotten her is some dishes.

Then FI and I got IPhones for each other and that was supposed to be an early Christmas present...nope now there's gifts under the tree for me.

  • We got a new vending machine, and it has white cheddar cheezits in it.  I'll have to be very careful to make sure I don't have change on me.  That stuff is like crack.

  • OMG yum!  So addictive.  One of the many reasons I never carry cash/change...
  • Adamar-That sounds so good! I agree it is addictive!

  • I looove cheezits. I miss talking to everyone, even though I wasn't around a ton. It's nice to see an active thread!
    image
  • Cheezits are addictive too.... ok, well, anything with cheese is addictive to me :)
  • Also, holy number of thread views batman!  That's extremely creepy, another reason I don't like TN.  I can't complain though, at least our posts are in order.

Heading out to the train, hoping I get WIFI.  If not, I will talk to you all soon!

  • The thread views are confusing. Is thread views the number of times the thread is opened? I wonder how many of those views are ours and how many are lurkers or just random people. Hmm.
    image
  • I bet a lot of them are just from us, posting then going back into the thread or refreshing.

I can't imagine that many lurkers following here...

    I think so.

  • I mean, I mostly lurk, but I also post some, and I followed... does that count?

I like this. The kid-friendly stuff is also stuff they like to eat, so I think they'd really like it. Thanks!

  • Well i'm out of here ladies! ttyl!

  • You're welcome Special.

The views do include the number of times we've reopened the post, refreshed or clicked on a previously read page I believe. But, I'm sure some of it is still people who've never posted on TK but lurk and saw the link so followed us over to continue lurking.

  • I've been doing a lot of refreshing so that makes sense. But still, that's a lot of views.
  • According to TBGods, you only count as a view once.  It doesn't matter how many times you refresh or open the thread.  There's just a lot of lurkers out there.

  • I'm so sick of studying.  Booo.

And I'm bored-ish.  But I got a new skinny Sharpie, it is hot pink.  That makes me happy.

    Hi Bird!!

  • Gah, things look weird over here. I am finally home after a very long day. Just got back from the grocery store because I have to cook some food for my students' party tomorrow. So very tired and not in the mood for cooking in mass quantities right now. Also still have to grade some but might save that for tomorrow. At least all your posts are in order but this thread is too long for me to catch up and read them all.

Happy for you, MyUserName (what do you want to be called), that you've been given reg status :) What qualifies one as a reg anyway?

I think I may need to open a beer.

  • Hi can I play here? I was supposed to get my nails done with my CW but she bailed, so I'm hanging out at home watching bad daytime TV until work.
