Lurkers?

Re: Lurkers?

  • Another one late to the party. I try to participate in random stuff/polls. I occasionally answer a question where the poster is seeking advice and I have any to give. I keep up with your stats and treatments and how you're feeling. I guess I don't really feel like there's much more for me to add because I'm not ttc anymore and therefore it probably feels like I'm not around as often. I also dislike disagreements in general so I'll rarely get involved in any conflict on the board unless it's a personal attack on a friend. (Eg someone once called a friend a cu*t and it was uncalled for). I don't expect glitter and roses, but I do expect for you to ignore something if you don't want to read about it. It's not a personal attack on you and rarely does anyone here post anything truly meant to offend. I think it's time to just lighten up across the board. If you don't like a post, move on. Not everything has to be a debate or taken personally. So I guess what I'm really saying is, more booze across the board :-). -- Love from a still angry bitter person that finally (ironically) got KU after a shitty MFI diagnosis.

  • I lurked for a while on and off, but recently started trying to be more active because I'm TTC again.

I think it is hard to find a balance here because not everyone is in the same place, but if you are a grad who want grads to have more of a presence or if you want some more positivity then you should take it upon yourself to post more IMO.
I've noticed you posting lately and guessed that you were TTC again. It's good to see you around here! :-)

Hi everyone! I have lurked for a little while (like a few months) and I originally came on this board because my cousin (she's 2 weeks older than I am) was TTC and I wanted to have some knowledge about it since we're really close and we were talking about it. I have to say that I have learned so much by coming and being a lurker and my initial intention was just to see what the board was all about but then so many of you made me laugh that I found myself coming back to see what was up with everyone. My fiancé and I are both in grad school and we will be getting married at the beginning of next year in April and probably at that point we will TTC or at least not TTA. If you would like me to do a full intro I can or just ask any questions that you have about me and I'd love to answer!
Welcome! Are you an AC/DC fan?

  • I am also late to the party... I posted an intro here about 2 years ago? I didn't feel welcome, or maybe I just didn't know how to jump in? But I kept on lurking, and learning from all of you. With my busy days at work, most of the time I can only post on the weekends.

I was active on the board for a long time while TTA. My TTC journey was short, but I have tried to stay around and contribute (I had more time at my previous job). I did have someone make a rude comment to me about how short my TTC journey was, but meh. People will do that. I wish this board was more active overall. I know at one point we were doing "all about me" posts and that was a good read. Maybe we can do more just to get everyone involved?
I liked these too! I was sad when people decided to quit doing them.

It does get pretty quiet here on weekends, so I'm sure that makes it tough for you to really jump in to conversations.  But welcome and post whenever you feel like it!  The more you do it, the easier it gets.

  • Hi, I am a bit of a lurker my husband and I will start TTC after our 1 year @ end of august. I don't really have too much to say(which is why i lurke).I Mainly have been  trying to figure things out as for what I should do when we do start to TTC.(temping etc) I have been on BC forever (about 11 years) have taken a few breaks here and there, so when it does come time I do worry that it may make TTC a little difficult. But one can really only wait and see. So Hi :)

  • I think everyone is pretty helpful here too. Sure sometimes people can be straight forward, but what isI wrong with that. We come here for honesty and we get it. I think you ladies are awesome and some of you have gone thru so much with TTC and all of that and it is amazing listening to your stories and how you've stayed so strong throughout it all. I'm keeping my FX that I don't have any problems, but as of now, it isn't looking too good. Oh ya, ladies, if anyone wants to be my friend on FB message me. :) xoxo Happy Thursday can't wait for the weekend.

  • I'm a lurker. I post every other day or so, but mostly just read stuff. DH and I just started TTC again on my last cycle (DD is going to be 7 in October and is super excited about the prospect of being a big sister.). I'm charting and since I'm relatively new to it, most of my posts will probably be questions. I teach middle school; we're in testing mode right now, and then the year will be winding down, so I'll probably be more active in the coming weeks, but I may just still lurk around and read. We'll see.

I don't teach, but I work in a middle school. Our testing is over thankfully. You are a brave lady for taking on all those teenage hormones.

  • @Iloveredvino You know you can message me on FB whenever, right? I will make more of an effort to reach out! I didn't realize you felt this way! I have also still been having problems with mobile. It wouldn't let me log on for about a week. Today has been better. I have only had to log on like 5 times!

  • I lurk from my phone now.  I still can't log in from there (dude, @nestcayla, wtf?) and rarely use a computer at home.

But aside from that, I just don't really feel like I fit here anymore.  I don't have the hope that so many get to have, and I truly only TTC a few times a year.  It is just different.

I miss a lot of you.  There are people here who I really, really like and wish we could be in touch more frequently (Bruins, Amanda, LL, I'm sure there are more).  I want to continue to share my story with those who know it, and I want to follow yours.  I just don't think this is really the place for me anymore.

And FWIW, I have no problem with grads posting.  People have babies.  I want my friends, IRL and here, to have that.  Baby-related posts don't bother me.

I'll be sad if you leave. I stalk you (in the best way possible).

Actually it's because my fiancé's initials are DC and after we're married mine would be AC. My fiancé likes the band AC/DC (although I'm pretty sure he likes electricity too because he's a nerd like that) but we both thought it was funny that together we'll be ACDC, so that's where it actually comes from. I do like the band AC/DC but I have other bands that I like more!

That's cute! I wondered because DH is a big music guy. I think I can name one AC/DC song, though I'm sure I know others...

*Side post: I'm lurking in the lurker thread. :-)

I'm still fairly new around here and am still "getting to know" everyone, but I try to contribute. Sometimes I'll just hit the "Love It" button, but even this thread makes me realize that while I shy away from conflict, I'm glad everything is getting out into the open. I'd rather everyone speak her mind then keep it all bottled up and then snap. Could just be me.

    Ditto to all.

But also I am awkward and bad at friends, so I'm sure that has something to do with it for me as well.

This is me! Why couldn't this have happened on Tuesday when I had 0 clients! I was crazy busy yesterday and just now catching up. I love everyone one on here, but still sometimes feel like an outsider. That's probably just me though. I was called out last year, but it was something that should have happened. I made an ignorant statement that I really didn't mean. I do feel like I get support and have learned so much here. I like to hear grad stories and will lurk on gpm to check in! Just my two cents. I hope discussions and busier days like this continue!

  • Man oh man...talk about an active board yesterday! Sorry that I'm super late on this!

My two cents: I've only been around since December-ish (although I lurked for a few months before making my official intro) so I can't comment on what the board was like prior to late last year.

Personally, I don't mind the baby tickers and pictures. I also wouldn't mind if grads wanted to mention their LO's in relevant conversation. It makes me happy to see people finally achieve their dreams of parenthood after I have been following their journey...be it naturally, medically-assisted, or through adoption. I think all should feel welcome. But I also feel though that posts strictly about pregnancy/babies like morning sickness, ultrasounds, baby showers, etc., should be posted in GPM out of respect for the women on this board.

That being said, I know I am still somewhat early in my journey and have not gone through what many women on this board have and because of that, I understand and respect others' needs for this to be a safe place where they are not bombared with pictures and posts of the very thing they want more than anything.
