I know it has been a while since we last talked. I hear that things have been better for you...I'm so glad to hear that, especially for the boys' sake.  As [my coworker that E is friends with] might have told you, he and I get together for wine every couple of weeks and sometimes he'll fill me in a little on the great things that you've got going on for you now.  I'm so glad that [new company] was able to work out for you...I think you're in a great position to help them take so many of the clients who loved you at [old company], as some will be thrilled just to know that you'll be working with them again.  It sounds like the move was great for your family as well, and the boys will be able to enjoy all of the ameinities that come with living in the suburbs.  Not that the Heights was bad by any means, but I'm sure you'll feel they're safer and in a better environment as they get older.

As for me, I've been doing pretty well I suppose [delete that.  you're doing awesome].  I moved to a new house in the Heights.  The old one was apparently full of rats!  You wouldn't believe it if you saw it.  There was one in particular (I named him Splinter) who came out of the hole by the water heater in the kitchen and would just sit there on the pipes.  Don't get me started on what they did to my stuff in storage in Bella's room.  The transition to [my "new" company] has been a bit tough.  It's a very different environment.  The worst part is how much tighter they are around here...less OT, more expensive insurance, shift differentials went down, no more paid meals.  Not to mention that [my client] hasn't had any huge projects this year like they did with last year's merger.  It's making it a little more difficult to get all the bills paid right now. New paragraph

I guess where I'm going with this is that I wanted to see if there was any chance that I could get some of the money back that I loaned you in the past.  [I don't like the way this sounds. It's like you're giving him an option.] I feel bad asking, but I'm kind of in a position that I could really use it. [I would eliminate this if it was understood he is expected to pay you back]  I understand if you can't give all $3500 to me at once and would be willing to work out a payment plan.  I imagine that you're still working to get everything back in order.  I looked on www.paypal.com and saw that you can transfer money for free to me on there...all you do is put in my email address and send money via your checking account.  It won't show any account numbers, is secure, and is free as long as you don't use a credit card.  I really do hate to ask this and I hope you can understand where I'm coming from on it [if it was expected and understood that he is to pay you back I would eliminate this as well.  If not, I would reword it.]

I truly hope that things continue to get better and better for you.  I can only imagine how much happier you are now that you have the boys back with you and you know they're safe.  I always hated to see how much that tore you up, even though I didn't always have the best reactions at the time.

    Take care,

I made slight edits and made a separate paragraph and also added or suggested eliminating parts.  I bolded, italicised, and underlined those areas above so you'd see them.  I don't think you should sound so "I'm sorry to ask...I hate to ask..."  I think you need to just state what you loaned and that you want it back because it was a loan.  I know you're not trying to be rude or have bad blood, but at the same time you don't want him to not take it seriously.

When you loaned him this money (Good lord I WISH i could get all the $$ back from a total d-bag I loaned $$ to) was it clear this was a loan or was it a "here, I'll help you out" thing because y'all were dating?  I asked C about getting $ back and he suggested the best thing to do would be to hopefully get some sort of confirmation that the loan was made and he promised to pay it back so there's concrete proof.  He's thinking of it way more legally than I think you want to.

I feel like I totally ripped your letter apart...  Sad

I thought about it from the legal side...that's how my brain tends to work too.  I don't know that I could get any confirmation from him that he owes it though.  And realistically, it's not enough to take to court anyway...the chances that he could cover the money he owes PLUS legal fees are slim to none.  Not to mention that I would hate to put him through court again, since some of the money loaned was for legal fees (he was a real winner).

I see your point about it being apologetic.  I'm just trying to not piss him off, and to let him know that I do understand that he's not made of money and that it could be tough for him to pay me back.  The other issue is that he was drinking most of the time we were together, and there's always that chance he's going to not remember any of it.  Which is super awesome.  LOL

I will forever and always think that her father molested her, from a young age, and she got pregnant, and her mother found out and they all planned her death. Casey had NO emotional attachment to Caylee, which is very common among rape/incest conceived babies.

The father is hiding so much, he gets so damn defensive, and used to be a cop, so he would know how to perfectly dispose of poor Caylee.

I got way to invested with this investigation and trial.

  • Feisty - can C do background checks?  And if so, are they fast (and free) for him?  When I started back at my company in 2008, they ran a background check and stuff showed up that wasn't me from 2000-2004, even though it didn't show up in 2004 when I had the first check done.  I thought my brother was going to get it taken care of, but in this many years he hasn't, so I need to figure out 1) if it's still there and 2) how to make it go away.  Especially since I'm applying for jobs with the state!

Yes he can for free Smile.  C says he can easily access where you've lived, car registrations, alias's, friends and family, etc., but criminal records can be hit or miss and the more he has from you to search by the better. It is instantaneous.  He will need your full name (which I can give him), & SS# is best but if you aren't comfortable with that he can find other ways.  Here is his work email: choate at johntfloyd dot com  He "knows" who you are so if you shoot him an email he won't be surprised at all, and he can tell you exactly what he needs.  His office number 713-224-0101 if you just want to call.

They have a guy in jail right now awaiting trial and he isn't supposed to have any restrictions on phone calls or anything, but he got moved to a new location and when he went to make a phone call they told him he couldn't because he had all sorts of restrictions set.  Turns out some other guys stuff (with the same really common name) got mixed up and put on this guys record...guess the state screws up a lot! Smile

That really sucks that you have to deal with this, but it makes me want to have him run mine every few years or so just to make sure mine stays clean.

Thank you Feisty!!  I'll give him a call or email him in a bit.  My current company overlooked the stuff since they knew it didn't show up the first time I was hired, but I'm pretty sure if a state dept saw it, they'd laugh me out of the resume pool.

And because I'm sure you're both curious, it's things like providing alcohol to minors (when I was still a minor myself), some traffic violations, failure to appear, and probably some other stuff that I'm not remembering right now.

LOL, well, if you didn't do it, OF COURSE you failed to appear!  Good grief how did they get things THAT mixed up?!!!  C will tell you what there is and will be happy to help you get it taken care of if need be.  He's a sweetheart.  :)

I'm really excited for his firm because they will find out today if they landed a HUGE HUGE case...like, the guy got indicted because of a 60 Minutes investigation.  It's a big deal.  Fingers crossed for them!

  • THEY GOT IT!!!!!!  And since C was the one who they (the people paying the fees) made initial contact with that led to the meeting with the indicted guy I credit C totally.  If C hadn't won them over on the phone (from a different continent), he and the owner of the firm wouldn't have met with indicted guy yesterday, and then indicted guy wouldn't have called today and said let's do this and would have stuck with his less-than-awesome attorney from a different city in TX.  Yes, my fiance is just awesome!!!

I was hoping to go dancing tonight, but all I can think about is my jammies, my puppy, and watching Grey's with a glass of wine.  Or ice cream.  Or both.

  • Not sure about tonight.  Hoping for a pizza date with one of my girlfriends.  Tomorrow will be working on stuff around the house (purging, finding stuff to sell, etc).  Sunday is Christmas with my dad, and maybe going to the shooting range for a bit with him.
