Hi everyone! I have lurked for a little while (like a few months) and I originally came on this board because my cousin (she's 2 weeks older than I am) was TTC and I wanted to have some knowledge about it since we're really close and we were talking about it. I have to say that I have learned so much by coming and being a lurker and my initial intention was just to see what the board was all about but then so many of you made me laugh that I found myself coming back to see what was up with everyone. My fiancé and I are both in grad school and we will be getting married at the beginning of next year in April and probably at that point we will TTC or at least not TTA. If you would like me to do a full intro I can or just ask any questions that you have about me and I'd love to answer!
    What's your favorite pizza topping?

  • Actually, my favorite is no topping at all...I really love just straight cheese pizza! But I also really like Hawaiian!
  • I was active on the board for a long time while TTA. My TTC journey was short, but I have tried to stay around and contribute (I had more time at my previous job).

I did have someone make a rude comment to me about how short my TTC journey was, but meh. People will do that.

I wish this board was more active overall. I know at one point we were doing "all about me" posts and that was a good read.

Maybe we can do more just to get everyone involved?

Oh this was a good read!!

Granted I left the board but it wasn't because I didn't feel welcome. But for the longest time I had nothing to add and then the Nest made changes (and we all know how well that works out). Maybe sometime soon I will rejoin the conversation.

This is me. I swing by when bored, which is rare. I come back for a good read, which instead of every day, is now more of like 1-2x/year.
To be fair though, all my 7 (maybe 8?) years of being a nestie have been on and off like that. Didn't matter super positive cinco, bitter cinco, or pg cinco. My participation had always been spotty but it has nothing to do with my love for you or welcome feeling so much as how demanding real life is at the time.

  • I'm late to the party, don't mind me. I still struggle sometimes with knowing what is okay to post (PR/BR, like mentioning my daughter), but I still stick around to show support because I think we have some amazingly strong women on here and I still have everything crossed that each and every one of you gets your happy ending (that sounds sexual, but you know what I mean, lol). This thread has really clarified a lot for me though. So thank you.

Also, I love FB friends. :)

  • I'm late too... Holy smokes! Talk about the board being "dead" and today it went CrAzY!

I have been on here off-and-on since last Summer. I didn't really post as much as I do now last summer when DH and I started down the 3T/RE route, so it didn't come as any big surprise that I wasn't getting as much support as other ladies who post regularly and have been here for a while. Now that I am more active, I feel more comfortable sharing my updates with everyone (as severely limited as they may be), and have never felt more supported by other women in my life. I also, like others have mentioned, feel very invested in the TTC journey of many other ladies here and am so excited when they are successful (with or without intervention). Am I less interested to hear that someone who has posted twice and is pregnant within 2-3 months of joining the board? Yes, probably. As I hinted at above, I think this has more to do with the fact that if you give support, you get it back.

As a side note, I love lurking on GPM to see how grads are doing, and I actually enjoy seeing tickers and siggy pics (less work for me to figure out how things are going! :P ). IMO, I do tend to prefer that when a discussion is started that if it is PR/BR that it is included there (particularly after really shitty IF days), but other than that, post to your heart's content about whatev!

    2) I am often disturbed by how loosely people throw around the term "bullying".  Seahorse is a lot of wonderful things; a bully is not one of them.

    3) I don't see the point of a GP graduates check-in.  If I want to see an update, I can click on GPM.

    4) I have often felt "abandoned" when ladies get their BFPs and disappear.

I don't have much experience with seahorse calling me out on anything; but I do want to speak to the abandoned feelings. I had been a pretty regular poster starting in May 2011 (I think?) and wanted very much to continue being active when I got my BFP in July 2012. I did not get the feeling that I was welcome once I became pregnant because it was also right around the time that several great ladies experienced failed IVF or miscarriages. I knew others were focusing their support on them (rightly so!) and I didn't feel like I had a place any longer when I had received good news. As time went on and I'd lurk around GP I noticed that the overall feel of the board was so negative and I didn't want to participate in that. I was on GPM for quite awhile before we started a FB group and that's where I spend most of my time now. I wanted to be active again and had thought the NSA exchange was a great way to do so but even that didn't make me feel like I had a place over here. It had nothing to do with the exchange because I truly enjoyed the person I had and continue to follow her story. Maybe this is stupid, but I feel like all of the support I had received just stopped as soon as my pregnancy progressed. Maybe we can change the attitude of the board and be more welcoming again?
